Did you know that plastic bags, which are made from petroleum, can take 1,000 years to decompose in a landfill?
Yes, it is true and you can do something about this problem. Take a tote bag to the grocery store with you. You only need to reuse a tote bag 11 times before you have made an impact and helped to reduce the environment of plastic and paper bags.
Plastic bags also blow away easily and can end up in the waters- harming marine life.
In the United States alone, there are 100 billion plastic bags thrown away each year and only 1 % of these are ever reused. This is an alarming statistic.
If you do not have a tote bag, you can reuse the plastic bags and still make an impact and go green.
Why not start a tradition now with your family to teach the kids the importance of reusing bags or using tote bags!
Do you use a tote bag?
Do you reuse those plastic bags?

We don't have tote bags as they don't hold much at all.
I usually take any cans or bottles out as I use them.
I need to get some canvas totes to start using though for places like walmart that don't have paper bags
NPR was covering a story in India where the cows are dying from eating the plastic bags. Sad.
