I am thoroughly convinced that we can develop cars that use a combination of electric and solar power. Our cars could charge themselves in the parking lot all day while we work or go to school.
I am curious if there are any thoughts about why this has not been developed yet. I have read that solar panels can now be manufactured much cheaper these days as well.

Your ideas about solar panels in the parking lot sounds interesting. It definitely seems that office buildings could be constructed with solar panel roofs that could be used to create a power grid and supply extra energy to the vehicles in the parking lot (let alone fuel the office's energy needs).
I don't know what is holding us back from some of these initiatives. If its big oil, the way things have been done in the past, or other powers that be, but I sincerely hope we start moving in a direction where we more efficiently utilize the natural, clean energy of the sun.
