Art Journal Project: I AM Genesis

Waaaaaay back in high school, one of my teachers encouraged us to make a "I Am" book. Back then, we cut out imags from magazines, text and type from various sources, and created a scrapbook about ourselves. After joining the Artistic Minds group and seeing Linda's art journal project, I decided to revisit the I AM book, and create a new one, 26 years later (gulp!).

I should point out that I am NOT a scrapbooky person at all, but I though it might be fun to assemble some imagery in Photoshop and Illustrator. Nowadays, we have much more flexibility with both method and what images we can use, so it was rather difficult. In the end, I opted for a postmodern feel, since I tend to think in all directions. So here below is the first page of my new I AM book--a general outline of myself in imagery and text. I'm sure if I'd do it tomorrow, it would be different, and already I want to add things. But I'm like that, so I'll just have to say "good enough for now" and get on with it! Enjoy me as an I AM puzzle!

Project Update (12 hours after posting): I hope that at least a few of you can see the somewhat esoteric humor here, however subtle it may be (hint: MASTERMIND and HUMBLE can possibly be seen as opposites?). If you've read some of my other stuff, you can catch references to "creative genius" and "intelligent beauty". "Mysterious World" was my first official photographic exhibition in a gallery. But I like these terms generally, and am beginning to use them in wider contexts.

I've also thunk and thunk and have decided upon a few more specific pages that I'll post upon each page's completion. Also a disclaimer and a tip for future I AM book wanamakers: Exclaim yourself! This is no time to be shy or socially humble for humility's sake.
