How did he, or how do you want him to propose?

I've never really thought about it to tell the truth. I am not married but I definitely know that it must involve lots of white roses.

About a year and a half before my hubby proposed, he cut a section of a huge fallen tree from his parent's forest and let it dry out. He made a big coffee table out of it and gave it to me for Christmas one year. I knew the table was under the sheet, but I didn't know it was a proposal too! He had cut a section out of the middle of the table, put the ring in it, and covered it with glass. When I uncovered the table I saw the ring and got all teary. I didn't know if it was just a ring, or an engagement ring because he just said Merry Christmas! He said "If you can get it out of there you can have it. " So got down on my knees and tried to pry the glass up. Well, I couldn't get it because of all the tears! So he got down and got it out, and said "So will you?" I said "will I what?" Then he FINALLY said, "Will you marry me?" Of course I said yes!
We have now been married for 3 years and 8 months. I can still remember everything from that night!

Actually, I did the proposing! It was none too romantic, I just got tired of waiting. We were making dinner and I said "Do you want to get married?" Turns out that he did. We celebrated our 5th anniversary last spring.

he asked me over the phone. just blurted out, "hey, marry me". i answered, "fuck it, why not"

i should have held out for the better deal.

I have been happily married (most of the time! ha ha) for 2 years now. My husband proposed to me in the most romantic way that he new how! So that would involve a garage!
He is a carpenter/loves to work with wood/tools for his favorite hobby. We have a little section set up in the garage----two chairs and a little table----where we go out and sit and talk and have a cigerette. (yes I know it's bad for my health)---Anyway one morning I was out there having my coffee and he came out there and he was pacing around and acting funny. He knelt down in front of me and he began the corniest yet most romantic (to me) speech of his life. It went something like this, "Monica-----you know that I love this garage and I love all my tools out here, But none of this would mean anything to me with out you. You are most beautiful and brightest wrench in my toolbox! I would be honored to have my best friend as also my wife!
And then you no the rest of the story. I started all the mushy crying and then we were married!

We dated for a short time and after several dates, he announced, if things are going this well in 6 months, I propose to you! Well, fast forward, it only took 4 months. We went shopping for a ring, and onc ehe got it off layaway, we went to a local metropark. He said I looked so happy that he wanted to take my picture. I posed, and he opened the wrong pocket (the outside one you keep film in). He pulled out the ring, and asked me there in the beat up light blue pick up his dad loaned him, overlooking the lake. Then, he DID take my picture.

My fiance didn't so much propose to me directly as we just sort of mutually said "well, yeah, we'll get married in a few years." He did buy me a ring, however, though he let me pick it out. It's silver with an amethyst rather than anything traditional. :)

Mostly, though, I think we had decided we were going to be together forever after we had been dating about a month or so, and were already talking about where we were going to move when my lease was up. :)

We had been dating for almost 6 years when he said something about getting married. I said, "We are?" he said, "Of course!" then it took him another few months to get the ring, and then we made fancy dinner plans for him to present me with the ring. We were both so nervous, I have to say that was the most expensive meal I've ever had that didn't taste of anything. Then 10 months later we were married.

I had swore to never marry again. I was dating/living with my mechanic boyfriend and had bought a beautiful 1984 "vette" for a song. He fixed it up for me (for free) and it was show room quality perfect. He was so frustrated with me for never wanting to get married that he gave me an ultimatium, marry me or pay this bill! I took the ring! Ten years of married life later I still have the car and the husband. Plus beautiful children.

I have been with my boyfriend Tony for 3 years now. I am hoping that when he does propose he first talks to my children, and then plans a romantic outing. This will be my second and absolute last go-round, so I really hope he makes it special!

I have been married for 14 years. And we have two boys. Hubby and I dated for 2 years before we got married. He proposed after he had given me a leather coat I had wanted. I put it on, and turned around to show him, and he was on his knee with a beautiful diamond marquee. It was a very simply yet capturing moment. :)

well i had been dateing my guy for about 2 years at the time, one day I was sitting in the living room reading the paper and as he walked by he grabbed my hand and sliped a ring no my finger and as he was walking away said "that is in case you would like to marry me someday." of course I was stunned and had to go ask him what he just said,
this engagement has been a rocky one , just last night he made a comment that he does not want a big wedding, he would just like to surprise others and just go do it someday. Of course my parents would be mad as all get out if I did that so who knows But so far we have never set a date, I did recive a bigger ring though a few months back actually almost a year to the date he ask the first time.

He took me out to a movie and a nicer upper class dinner at a pricy place (not necessary, but was nice) we came back home and he proposed to me at the stroke of midnight on new year's eve.. just as we rang in the New Year.
