I finished this larger oval painting (14" x 11") yesterday while taking my turn running the OASIS Gallery in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
This is a departure from my usual "Stained-Glass-Canvas" style of acrylic painting. But, as usual, it is painted on a gallery-wrapped canvas, which means I have painted the image around the sides, which in turn means it needs no additional framing.
I am trying to recapture the idea of Christmas as a time of hope for peace, and not just a commercial orgy. Having said that, I admit, it is for sale at the gallery. My hope is that it will find a home with others who share in this hope with me, and will inspire others to wish for the same.
The title is the same as the words on the banner carried by the dove at the top of the painting: "Let There Be Peace On Earth."
Below is a photo of my current display at the OASIS Gallery.
Yes, those are my hand-painted Christmas ornaments. I failed to photograph them for Gather.

Merry Christmas ...
On a mission, can't talk now, Trying to give fifty points (at least) to all my connections for Christmas, or whatever:
Ten unsolicited points from the world's worst connection. Merry whatever you celebrate!
I just wanted to stop by since I am finally going through what is now listed as under 4,300 pieces of gather new mail that is sitting in my inbox on here.
With that mentioned I just came across either a mailing from you yourself, or someone else brought this piece to my attention. You or they felt that your creation should be shared with the gather community, which I am very glad that it was passed on to me to view. So I wanted to say Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to publish it here on gather for us to all view. :o)
As well before I leave you I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year... in 2009 :o)
