Island Park is located in Sarasota Florida, along the Gulf. It's a wonderful Park, you can bring the kids and let them play in the fountains during the really hot months, or bring your dog and play ball with him in the grassy area. Have a drink at little resturant located in the park, or just walk and see the many sights...boats, water, fountains, and really great trees!

On the forth of July, Island Park hosts the big fireworks event. The road is closed near the park, to make room for everyone to set up camp!

On Easter Island Park hosts a 6 a.m. mass as well. They set up chairs in the park, and have a beautiful service.
Island Park is also located right next to that beautiful place, Selby Gardens. If anyone hasn't seen my tour of the gardens, here is a link, http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474977094826 (This is actually a link to the last chapter in the series, but I did it that way because at the end of this article are the direct links to the first chapters!!)
On top of all that, Island Park features a great sculptural art show once a year. It is set up once a year, and stays up for quite a few months. The art does change from year to year too. I have heard that it's a traveling art show, but not sure how true that is. This is the second year now that they have set up the art at Island Park. They set the 'art show' up along the water front, which also runs right along the highway, so cars passing can catch a glimpse as well. This years art, as I said before, is different then the first years.

This is the way to the majority of the art pieces...

This last piece pictured moved when the wind blew.

Here is a close up of the second piece in the first photo here.

This piece had some wonderful detail!

My son enjoyed this piece...interactive art!

A few more pieces of 'interactive' art...

Yes, it's a giant tooth! This thing, as well as most of the pieces displayed, was huge! You can tell in some of the photos how big the stuff really is by looking at things around it...
I saved my favorite piece for last!
This is the full view, and then I took some close up's of certain parts for you to see...

The very top...

This is a closeup of the material used.
These last couple pictures are actual cars. They were set up to make a very unusual display. This piece was actually set up across the street from the park, so the photos were taken at a distance...I hope you can still get the 'jist' of it!

It's amazing what some people can come up with...
That concludes the art tour through Island Park! I hope you enjoyed the show...I did get photos of all the names of these pieces, as well as the artists, the size, and a little bit about the background of the piece, but when I tried to put the photos in the article, they were just too small to read... Plus it would have made for a really long photo essay too!
