Adobe photoshop is the best. You will need to learn how to use it though.

Photosuite and JASC Photo Album. But when I really want to 'get serious' I pull out photoshop and sloog my way through it. I find it hard to use--- but it does the best job.

Heh, heh! I'm a Photoshop user from way back in the early 90s. If the full Photoshop is too expensive, then get Photoshop Elements, which is about $90. There are plenty of good tutorial books out there to help you through. I've never really had difficulties using PS, but then again I'm a Mac user and PS was originally written for Mac, so maybe they work together better.

Paintshop Pro 8 (pro9 is also good,but have been told that the newest versions are not as user friendly and of course more costly)...pro 8 and 9 are user friendly and can find them for very reasonable prices on ebay....has the basic tools for editing photos,adding frames/borders as well as lots of effects for creating photo-art...has all of the adjustment settings such as levels,curves,gamma correction and histogram...i have a few edited images posted here which are good examples of what the program can do.....

I use Adobe PhotoDeluxe and Image Broadway. The Adobe product seems to be a giveaway with purchase of computer hardware; mine came with an old scanner that I no longer use (it is incompatible with my current computer).
I also have Paint Shop Pro and let the trial period run out on that as well, because I found that it isn't as good as my other software. (So why put out the money for it?)

Thank you all for your input. Now I have a decision to make. I've still got a little time but wanted to get ahead of the game.

You know, I never thought to check the printer box to see if they provided software. I have one of those printer/scanner/fax things which I haven't installed yet. I have to look at it today and see if there's any software in the box.

Sandra, I just use the Adobe Photoshop Elements that came with my computer. So far it's been adequate.

I checked my printer and it has something with very basic stuff on it. But it will get me by until I buy something better. It is Adobe that Kinkos uses. I really like it. I'll check out Elements cause the full thing is very expensive for me right now. :) I'm saving for a new car.

I adore Photoshop Elements. I use it to do wild art and my novel covers. There's also something out there called Coral. One of the art directors at one of my publishers uses it and she creates VERY pretty book covers with it!!!!!

Thank you, Peter. I'm seriously looking at Adobe Elements - I guess that's the same as Photoshop. Corel is the company that makes Snapfire and the other trial I have. I've only done a little bit with them; cropping, red eye, blur out, that kind of thing. They're okay but ...

I'm going to Kinkos tomorrow and check out their system. I'll write it down this time. :)

Jasc - U-lead - Corel - Adobe -but the one I like best is a french program - it is free and superb. It comesin an english version and is so versatile. Happy to send you the details, "L"
