Little history.................
My mother was the absolute QUEEN of nursery rhymes, children's poems, songs, bedtime stories, etc. She rocked me and my five brothers and sisters to sleep up until we reached about the age of three (or until a new baby came along!). As my siblings and I have matured and raised our own families, we've been able to share some of those wonderful and cherished songs and fables with our own offspring.
My niece became a grandmother in May ~ twin girls! She's trying to recite some of her favorites (enjoyed in her own childhood while listening to HER grandmother ~ my Mom ~ in the rocking chair!) to the girls. But she's stuck on a singy-songy poem or story that none of my brothers or sisters remember. This is a phrase.....can any of you provide the whole tale? Is it a song? Is it a poem? Is it from a book? I've searched several children's story sites and children's music sites, too. No luck.
Thanks in advance...........
" Sally wears the plainest dress-
Not a sign of loveliness.
Slippers neat, on her feet-
She is dainty, good, and sweet.
..and she is my dearest friend.
Happy hours with her I spend.
Playing ball? Not at all!!
She's a picture on the wall! ....."
