Gather, you've picked your winner. We're excited to announce that Tommy Wallach from Los Angeles has been named America's Best Musical Talent!
In mid-April, Tommy and the other First Tracks finalists flew to NYC to perform their original songs for our panel of celebrity judges. And though the race was close, Tommy received the highest number of final-round votes for his song "Elodie," winning a record deal with Decca Label Group.
And Decca couldn't be more thrilled. In the words of Decca Label Group GM Paul Foley, "At his live performance in New York City, he displayed a vibrancy and originality that made him a clear front-runner. He fits perfectly in our distinctly eclectic roster with his piano-playing and his French lyrics."
About Our Winner
Tommy's been musical since he was seven, when his mother bought him the baby grand he's probably playing this very moment. And he's not just a singer/songwriter inimitable on the ivories. Wallach has done it all, from musical theater to writing for McSweeney's and Tin House, two esteemed literary journals. We've seen him rock the piano and vocals. But he also knows his way around the guitar, mandolin, and melodica. Tommy's captivated audiences from NYC and to Dublin - even performing for the likes of Bill Gates. (You've gotta ask him the story on that one!) And he's sure to reach even farther in the months and years to come.
What's Next for Tommy
Soon, Tommy will be off to New York to officially sign his contract with Decca Label Group. Then he'll be on the fast track to record his EP of original songs. Once his album is a wrap, we'll sneak-peak some of his selections right here on Gather - and you'll be able to find his CD wherever music is sold.
Congratulations, Tommy! We're psyched to help your lifelong dream come true. And for all you Tommy fans out there, keep up with his latest at firsttracks.gather.com.

This is the guy I've been pulling for all along, ever since some Creed-sounding guy spammed me to listen to his song and give my opinion and then removed my comment when I did. If it wasn't for that guy, I never would have discovered Tommy.
Congratulations, Tommy! I am pleased that my impeccable musical taste has been validated.
Here's hoping that all your talented competitors also get a deal of some sort - then everyone will be happy! But we were pulling for you and couldn't be happier with the results of the contest.
Here's to a brilliant and successful future.
Have a great time in the Big Apple.
Tommy
