We all have had 'em. You know the days that you could be a little more alert, a little more ready to face the day. Or the days that you know will be a little bit more 'challenging' than most. (that was so PC wasn't it...hee!)
So times like these call for music.....well in my world it does.
So my question to you today....is not necessarily what is your favorite 'song' but what groups, song, and/or combo thereof do you listen to take you to it and get you through it.....
I don't care how embarassing it is.......admit it...live it....dance to it sing to it.....
and share it with me.....
My list goes a little sumpin' like this:
1) Jamiroquai ......because they got it all for when you need that oomph.....no matter what kind you need. The angry but I don't care stuff, the I'm just jammin', or even shake my bootay stuff.
2) Earth, Wind and Fire ..... With songs like Fantasy, Sing A Song, Superstar, September.....how can you not be inspired.
3) The Foo Fighters.... I cannot just funk it up all the way through my life.....just 60% of it. Sometimes I want to bang my head just a wee bit. Plus I just like 'em. My current personal fight song is The Pretender
4) Lily Allen.... Because I want to be a bitch with sugar on top sometimes.
5) THE BEATLES.... I can't help it, I can't help it.....I just love them. And they have the all occasion music too. Plus I love George and John. Mood fitting music.
6) ABBA.... SHUT UP....SHUT UP. I like them. I am embarassed....but....wait.....no I am not....When I saw Muriel's Wedding.....it was cool because I knew I wasn't the only one who wanted to live in an ABBA song.
7) Dave Matthews Band..... Crazy Sexy Cool and Brooding in a 'I can brood and take a shower' kind of way.
8) Music with Marimba in it...... If I had music to the way I walked. I hope it would be Marimba. One day I will sleep with a Marimba player because he has sexy music power. That or I will learn how to play it for myself......but I am not as interested in sleeping with myself. Thinking of Marimbas keep me from walking like cowbells. Gotta have more cowbell.
9) Stevie Wonder.... It is infectious what can I say. I remember that I used to just LOVE Sir Duke. My dad was a musician.....and he has a love/hate relationship with Sir Duke because it can put a hurting on your fingers (he plays electric bass). Hell, I love all of Stevie Wonder.....even the ooie gooey stuff.
10) of course.....the classic...... Gloria Gaynor.....I will Survive but since this is one song.....I will add to it Mary Mary, Michael Jackson, and Swing Out Sister because I have exceeded my numbers.
What's on your MP3, tape deck, CD player, 8 tack, reel to reel???????

Annie Lennox
Bonnie Raitt cause she gives me something to talk about.
Takin it to the Streets by the Dooby Bros. is my personal theme song. But can't listen too much because after a while I want to smash something into Michael McDonalds face.

What's up
25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this
Brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
So I cry somethimes when I'm lying in bed
To get it all out what's in my head
Then I start feeling a little peculiar
So I wake in the morning and I step
Outside I take deep breath
I get real high
Then I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
And I try, oh my God do I try
I try all the time
In this institution
And I pray, oh my God do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution
So I cry sometimes when I'm lying in my bed
To get it all out what's in my head
Then I start feeling a little peculiar
So I wake in the morning and I step outside
I take a deep breaththen I get real high
Then I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy *raspy* WHAT's GOING O-o-on.
hee
...and the poetry is so pure when we are on the floor.....
oops.....bad Belle! I love their stuff though...
We'll listen to EW&F, Abba (do not be ashamed, La B,) Pink and Aretha. We'll have chips & dip, cupcakes and other yumminess and then we'll go beat Michael McDonald like a ho that won't get out of our car. I HATE that dude!
can I come too?
But I have to know why we hate Michael McDonald.....what did he do????
He has a novelty voice, not what I call a true voice.
I generally listen to country these days, but when I'm depressed I turn to classic rock. It comforts me and I think it's because it was the music I grew up with. It takes me to a time when my problems weren't so severe.
I have her solo stuff on my BBerry and her No Doubt stuff. It always lifts my spirits to listen to her. Oh and I shake my money maker too.
Also Kate Nash. I want to make her song Dickhead the ringtone for my ex husband but I think it's a bad example for my girls to hear that song and know it's their Dad. It is in my head though.
I too love Lily Allen and her song Not Big is AWESOME!
And I have been so far removed from TV lately.....*confession* about the only thing I have seen in the past month is Naruto. (sorry I am a big addicted playbaby) So I have missed MM on the tube. Man....I like that song with Patti LaBelle though. But it might be because I heart Patti LaBelle. hehe La Belle > La Bellota hee *fan moment*
I also like "Kerosene" and "Gun Powder and Lead" by Miranda Lambert. She's got that scary ex-girlfriend vibe and it always prepares me for anything! "I'll show him what little girls are made of... Gunpowder and Lead!" Damn straight! Miranda's songs do for me what Redbull does to those little cartoony guys on those commercials!
The Killers is another group I turn to!
