Music Correspondent Laura Cushing here for Soundtracking - I'd like to interrupt my regularly scheduled feature for a big THANK YOU to everyone who's read and supported my columns and our group.
Our Soundtracking group just reached 500 members! Yay! In addition to my weekly Soundtracking features, the group also allows members to post their own music related content. We get wonderful articles in the Soundtracking group on a regular basis. To celebrate our growth to the big 5-0-0, instead of doing a regular feature this week, I'd like to spotlight some content that's been recently published to Soundtracking by some of our great group members.

Priscilla T. asks about your favorite 90's group. Hers was Poison.
Penina F. posts about Sutcliffe and Best , a collection of links relating to the two members who left the Beatles before they made it big. I learned a lot from these links. In an earlier article, Penina provided the links to John, George, Paul and Ringo's websites.
Jason Keaveny of Team Gather is offering some great opportunities to music lovers in the Orlando and NYC areas. Wouldn't you like to see a Nelly Furtado or Matt White concert on Gather, then write about it? What a great deal!
Marcy Chapin Carpenter visited Gather for a live chat on 5/24. Soundtracking was among the groups the transcript was published to - it's an interesting read.
Stevie W. tells us how we can make a difference in Darfur while listening to a music video by The Kin. Good music, good cause.
Kathleen L. informed us of the hospitalization of music legend Bo Diddley, and updated us on his condition. Sad news - and it's not yet known whether he'll be able to perform again.
Music correspondent Melco C. reviewed the Ben Gibbard DC concert.
Casey Dennis tells us about how the Internet has changed the indie music business.
Pete of No More Kings shows us some of his paintings from the portrait book he's working on.

And in case you missed any of them, here's the latest Soundtracking installments:
Soundtracking: Peter Gabriel's We7 Download revolution, in which we discuss a rock legend's plan for free to download music that still ensures the artist gets paid.
Soundtracking: Ozma Releases New Album, in which we interview Ozma and discuss their new album, Pasadena.
Soundtracking: CD review - Alison Krauss, in which we review Alison Krauss's new CD, A Hundred Miles or More.
Not a member of the Soundtracking group? Click here to join us!
Thanks again, everyone! It's a pleasure to write here on Gather, and to get to know all of you.

The funny thing is that after I posted this, someone up and quit on me so now we're down to 499! Sadness. ={
You folks who are over 40 years of age from Long Island can back me up on this --- in all of Rock + Roll history there has NEVER been a station that was the equal of WLIR-FM from Garden City, NY from the early 1970s to the mid 1980s. It was simply the best there ever was, the best there ever will be.
Here is a link with much history of that great station:
WLIR-FM
While this is a good site, it doesn't tell you half the story. I just cannot say enough about what a great station it was. In all my years as a Rock fan, I have never seen the like nor do I expect to ever do so again.
Good news that you are reaching a goal.
Is that what we are suppose to do here?
