Breaking 3,000: Got Some Advice?

I wish I knew what it was all about anyway. I have looked to find out about both systems...points and cash but am not finding it...PLEASE HELP

I knew if I would post and get comments as well comment from my fellow gathers. I would recieve points. I veiw pages twice once for me to comment and the other for commenting on my group.

Thanks for posting this. I'll be back to check on it later. I'm determined to make it to 3000 this month. Last month was my first month on here, and spent most of it trying to figure out how to both maximize my points, and enjoy it in the process. This month it's game on! I will get to 3000!

I say simply post articles once or twice a day that are interesting and entertaining that draw people to read...and keep them coming back for future efforts because they know they'll be reading something worthwhile. Make sure you comment on their works when you can, too. Or, you can take the easy route and just post games. Many more have made it to the cash option that way. As you know, I garnered enough points in my first 28 days writing here to switch over to cash and didn't have to redeem my points for one single gift card. If I can do it as an inexperienced, first-time write, why can't others do it just as easily?

I have reached cash option twice. the first time I turned it down. the second time was recently and I accepted.

What I do to reach the cash option:

First I always try to get more points than what is required to be on the safe side..
I created several articles each day.
I post about 4 pictures each day.
I return comments to people who comment on my content.
I always rate when viewing content.
If I have nothing to say I rate a ten and move on.
I watch a few videos. I comment on my friends stuff.
I joined groups that feature a different member each day to help boast points.
I post my content to lots of groups. - the more you post. The more likely your content with be viewed.
I have lots of friends - more friends more views. Not all friends view. So, that is why you need alot.
I only post to groups that are relevant to my content. Posting a flower essay to a recipe can get you low ratings.

How much time does it take to reach 3000 points? So far I am just enjoying the ride.

I used to get so frustrated because I couldn't keep up with the e-mail, Now I just accept it. I still feel frustrated but that's because my machine likes to dawdle sometimes. It's running good today, I hope it stays that way for a while. My advice:
Don't sweat the small stuff.

I prefer not to game the system with 'comment circles'. Just seems wrong.

Haven't made it yet, but I'd love to hear the advice.

I finally made enough to get cash option last month YAY!! now let's hope I get the invite LOL

I think it's all about page views. The more you read, the more people read your stuff, the more points you earn. I've been on the cash option for a while now and it's definately come in handy for those months when we need a bit extra cash

I am going to try this month - I think that posting a couple of articles and pictures each day should help. I have been sporadic in postings, and I think that consistency may be the key. Good luck everyone!

I've been posting an article for the last few months with a list of people who are trying to reach the cash option, and I've found that it's very helpful because members meet other people with the same goal and try to help each other out!

I don't understand how the point system works. I hope to someday but until then,I am along for the ride

I'm working on it. I've been a member since mid May and have about 900 points. I don't have it figured out, yet, but I'm trying.

I'm trying for the cash option, but I don't think I'll ever get there!

i got the cash option the first month i tried. I just look at pictures and give them a 10 and comment sometimes. i post articles and pictures every now and then too.

just make new friends:)
and have fun dont concetrate on getting the points.
the points will come.

I hope that many more cash people will stop by and comment on this. I would love to have the cash option, but I never get that many points in a month. I guess I don't spend enough time here, although it sure feels like I am always on Gather. I guess I need to write more articles. I am lucky to get one in a week instead of several every day. Do people really have that much to write about?

Also I would love if people could talk about groups and how many points you get with that. At present I don't have any groups. Maybe that's where I am lacking in points?

In any case, cash or no, I have gotten a lot out of my experience with Gather (both good and bad!) and will continue to enjoy this site.

Since I work for a living, I do not have the time to devote to trying for the cash option. I just enjoy the socializing.

I was told to watch featured videos and featured images give a lot of points.
When I pay back a comment I comment more sometimes 5 more than just doing one comment. It seems to work.

I wish I would have know that information in April.

I have to agree with what Rob Appell said, as I also got the cash option in less than the first 30 days I was here, plus not knowing it, I'd also already cashed out for a gift card and still had enough. I do think that back in 2006, when there were less members, it was easier to qualify than it is now.
I don't write tons of articles, usually not even one a day. I don't watch videos; I tried that and it didn't hold my interest so I stopped. Didn't notice a point difference or cash difference when I was doing that or when I stopped either.
I did make some groups, because I had a good time doing it, and I do comment on other people's things, when I'm on here, which also isn't daily.
So, truthfully? I think and I've always thought that gather has had a certain number of points that are allocated for each day, adjusted to accomodate more members somewhat, which is why I think it was much easier back in 2006, which if I'm not mistaken, Rob and I both got right on the cash option, than it is now. It's not impossible and you don't have to spend all day here - just do the best you can, write when you're offline, and then post it once you sign on, (that's easier for me) and comment a lot on things that interest you.

I've hit the paypal deposit of $25.00 twice and am going for it again. Since I use paypal when I shop on line, it's ideal for me.

What exactly is the cash option? Why is 3000 the number?
