Living the Dream

“Living the dream” that is a phrase that was most common to me when I was in college. During my time there I was a member of the Air Force ROTC program and whenever anyone was asked “How are you doing?” one of the biggest replies was “Living the dream”. For me I thought that serving my country in the Air Force was exactly that, me living the dream. My first assignment has lead me to Minot AFB, ND and I am a proud member of the 742^nd Wolf pack Squadron as a Missileer. I am honored to be a soldier and I would die and sacrifice for any one of my fellow Airmen; however, I’ve slowly come to realize that I am not living MY dream. I see that my passion is not to be an officer or to serve mankind in this fashion but to get in the nit and gritty and really be hands on. While in college I majored in Child Development and have a strong passion and desire to work with children. This has expanded to a desire to work with special needs children not only here in America but abroad as well. I believe that even though there is much beauty and mystery in the world there are just as many heartaches and trials that come with this world. Nothing at this point in my life would make happier than to not only travel the world but to make a positive and valued impact on it as well. It takes more than just butterfly wishes and multi-colored rainbows to make our deepest desires come true, and I hope this is the first step for me to truly start living my dream.
