What I can do to change the world?
To start off with I joined the local community garden where we donate a minimum of 20% of our produce to the local food bank. I personally donate most of my food to the food bank and some personal friends, who need the help. The gardeners all have to agree that there gardens stay organic and have banned the use of chemicals of any kind. We have garnered the help of the local city government to help us in this by providing us with organic compost from the city ‘s recycling program.
In the garden we have dedicated areas just for flowers for the enjoyment of non members. We actively try to encourage the help and interests of youths to learn more about gardening. It is both a way to improve our place in the world visually and environmentally. It is good exercise and a way to help people less fortunate by providing them with wholesome, chemical free food.
I think that more citizens need to work with there local city governments to build more organic community gardens. It is a good way to improve your city both visually and environmentally. Find a old abandoned or ugly part piece of city property add in a little sweat and time and Wa La you have both beautified your neighborhood plus you have helped provide fresh quality food for people that can use it the most. If you have ever been to the vegetable section of your grocer fresh organic foods are very expensive and food banks usually get the bottom barrel when it comes to food. This is a easy way to alleviate the situation.
So that is what I can do to change the world, what can you???
