I know that most people are feeling the crunch brought on by all of the recent changes in the economy. I don't really know what our immediate future holds, and I am scared a lot about the future of our children.
For us, we're just cutting more and more things out. There's not much more to cut! We don't want to stop saving for retirement, but we may be forced to. I am also working a lot more from home - I start before my husband makes it home and am working past midnight some nights.
I am curious to know what short-term and long-term changes people are making to adjust to the current economic climate. I would appreciate it if election politics were not included in responses - at this point, I don't trust anyone in government!

We are working on cutting back on some expenses, though. We've cut way back on eating out during the last year. We don't buy as much 'stuff' that we don't know. Our toddler doesn't get new toys just because we see one we think he will like anymore. We already watch our grocery money more carefully than a lot of people do, so nothing has really changed on that front, although I think I am going to start contacting some of our favorite companies to possibly get some coupons!
I also took a good look in my pantry and realized how much food I really have here, so this month I'm trying not to go grocery shopping and live off of what I already have (minus shopping for milk and fruits). I have so many soups, pastas, rice, instant potatoes... even left over cans of cranberry sauce from Thanksgiving.
Plus I turned off my heater and instead, have small electric heaters in my rooms - it's more efficient in my house and is saving me about $50-75/month. The central heat was always running because one side of my house just never seemed to get warm... so now when one room gets warm, the heater for that room shuts off automatically.
