President Obama has appointed or offered positions to no less than 5 high ranking Democrats who have later been discovered to have been tax cheats? These are not simple "ooopsie I forgot to carry the 1 accounting errors". These are crimes. Tom Daschle, who while in office, NEVER voted against a tax increase. That record is so much more understandable now that we find out he never intended to pay the taxes he was laying on the people.
Our new Sec Treas. Tim Geithner, is apparently so smart and fiscally shrewd, that our newly elected messiah, oops I mean president, has decreed he is the best qualified person to lift our economy out of it's slump. Of course he is either incapable of filling out his own tax returns properly OR is a tax cheat. You can make own decision on that one, but safe to say if you make the same mistake on your returns this year, you are not likely to be rewarded with an appointment to run the IRS, but rather you are likely to do some time in the penitentiary.
The Obama "Economic Team" (more like the bad news bears in spring training) is so unquestionably qualified that literally every time Geithner opens his mouth in public the Dow drops another 150-250 points. On the upside if he continues speaking we'll all be able to buy microsoft stock again at it's IPO prices. On the down side we'll be eating grass and riding horses to work on communal farms.
The world is trembling at our neophyte presidents economic stimulus package. Governments all across the EU as well as Japan and Canada are predicting a worldwide economic depression resulting from the new protectionist policy being implemnted by the president in training. Obama's popularity overseas is falling nearly as fast as the stock market. Economists worldwide are in agreement that the administrations actions are at best haphazard and unfocused.
In Iran Obama's pictures are being burned with American flags. Fidel Castro wannabe Hugo Chavez has resorted to his tried and true position of calling our new president as bad as our previous one.
Our new Secretary of State who made a career out of excoriating the previous administration's foreign policy, on her first trip abroad reinforced much of what was said by the previous Sec State regarding N. Korea and China. Change we can believe in indeed.
On the home front the change we can believe in, is beginning. As our president and congress begin the process of spending nearly $1 TRILLION dollars of OUR money, on top of the BILLIONS more in bailouts from the end of the Bush administration, plus the new plan to to rescue the criminally stupid homeowners who signed mortgages they had no ability to pay back.
How the President -in Training handles the Auto industry bailout should be interesting. Will Obama help out his union cronies in UAW who helped him get elected or will he do the right thing by the people of the country and let the auto makers go bankrupt and resturcture the untenable contracts the UAW extorted from them? Right now for every employee GM has on the books they are paying full retirement benefits to 3.5 others. Oh by the way a UAW worker at GM can retire with full benefits at 43 and collect from the automaker for the rest of their life. Hmmmm Wonder why the American car makers can't compete?
One might think people would question how all this spending will be paid for. One would be wrong. The media playing the role of Obama lap dog rarely asks how this will be paid for. Conventional wisdom and decades of experience show that raising taxes during an economic slow down is a gauranteed recipe for disaster. Well don't you worry bucko, conventional wisdom and experience don't stand a chance against the wisdom of Barack Obama. The president knows that type of talk is just poopie talk. You see "Change we Can Believe In". Let me translate that for you; "Together We Will Tax you back into the stone age".
Need more examples of how contempously our leaders hold the working people of this country? Let's examine the words of our new Attorney General, Eric Holder
The highest Law Officer in the country had this to say about his fellow Americans,
"I think that this country has been and largely continues to be a country of cowards"
Kind of warm and fuzzy isn't it? Good to know what the Attorney General of our country thinks about it's citizens. Oh and we're still waiting for Obama to come down off the mountain top and tell us he disagrees with him. Don't hold your breath. He won't say it, because he agrees.
So to everyone who, during the campaign minimized the importance of the people Barack Hussein Obama associated with both professionally and personally and said it was irrelevant, I say to you, "You couldn't have been more wrong then."
Obama's appoinments since his election have proven that his decision making process is at the very least flawed. Whether these constant associations with criminals is a failure of his vetting process or an example of stunning hubris on Obama's part is still not clear. There are rumblings now that Ron Emmaneul Obama's chief of staff has some tax issues about to come out. It seems Ron has been living rent free in a luxury apartment in Washington rent free for quite some time now. I know many of you will find these next two revelations hard to believe but, the owner of the building was a huge campaign contributor to, guess who. Our guy Barry Obama. Even worse Emmanuel failed to report this to the IRS as income.
Not to worry though If your a FOB (Friend of Barack) this is called an oversight. If your Joe the Plumber this is called tax evasion and you go to prison.
Your tax dollars at work folks.
Meanwhile,Obama publicly and loudly calls for fiscal restraint, while quietly overseeing a level of government spending of unprecedented proportions. We are told we can afford a MULTI TRILLION dollar spending spree the lies of which has never been seen, but We cannot afford to extend tax cuts to investors and business owners who are actually producing something and contribute to economic growth. A plan so misguided and doomed to catastrophic failure that even devout Obama supporter Judd Gregg declined Obamas invitation to join the team. Apparently even Democrats have occasional pangs of fiscal responsibilty. Unfortunately none of them have a position in this administration.
I'm gonna start making the "Don't blame me I voted for McCain" bumperstickers soon. Hopefully I'll make enough money to pay my share of the GM bailout. After I pay the taxes on it of course

Kay is right and I predicted that Obama would be putty in the hands of Pelosi and Reid. Ahh ... it's good to be right ...... but I wish for the sake of all of us I had been wrong about Obambi.
Remember that FDR was a "president in training" as was Regan, JFK, Truman and others. There is no way for anyone to start that job experienced! I believe he is learning fast and well. One does not reasonably expect that a senator with a lifetime in the senate would have the kind of errors behind him that some of these appear to have. Obama knows now that it is apparently not hard to do.
When it comes to letting others run the administration, it's hard to exceed Regan. The man never did really find out what was going on and the Republican party had to lead him to the White House bathroom. Regan, however, was honest about his personal control of things and never claimed to have any.
'As an officer, my sworn oath to support and defend our Constitution requires this'"
Why doesn't Obambi prove he's an American citizen? What does he have to hide? It's just bizarre.
I would recommend you get your facts straight before you toss things out there. Barack Obama is the least experienced president by far ever to be elected to the office. To say otherwise is just broadcasting your ignorance of the facts. Of course that ignorance is precisely what Obama and his toadies counted on (correctly as it turns out) to get elected. To paraphrase PT Barnum "No one ever went broke overestimating the stupidity of the average voter in America"
But who cares? You wanted change you got it. Of course pretty soon all anyone is going to have is change, because Barry's gonna tax anyone who works back to the poor house.
James C, FDR was "fortunate" to have WWII occur during his spending spree. The increased production of the war got us out of the depression. JFK? Not sure what was outstanding about his resume, unless you are counting Marilyn Monroe and the Vietnam War.
Reagan (if we can spell his name correctly), was an inspiration to this country, and indeed restored our greatness. I remember the dreary days of Carter, and the hope of Reagan. Spending did in Reagan, no doubt because of a democrat congress, Tip O'Neill was a formidable figure in Washington at that time. Obama has to grow some kind of backbone and stop blaming others for this economic mess. His "chicken little" approach is doing nothing for this nation's confidence, a fact voiced recently by former president Clinton. Barack must remember, he was a Senator who supported TARP and as president, signed Pelosi's massive spending bill into law. This economy is HIS.
How many BILLIONS have they 'lost'? how many lives have they taken? how have they left the country they inherited? how's the peace and prosperity they inherited?
How's it hangin' Kay?
GWB was no conservative and only a hard left leaning nut job would call him one. What he inherited was a military that had been decimated by the Clinton presidency. A presidency when active duty soldiers and their families were forced to get food stamps to feed their families. And while liberals like you Louis would have had a hand wringing circle jerk to find out why Islam dislikes us so much after the massacres on Sept. 11, the Bush administration took action. Perhaps you don't recall that when the Iraq war started less than 10% of the congress were against it. The Iraq invasion was a bilateral action supported by over 85% of both houses of congress, both democrats and republicans.
Louis I suggest you get a clue but if you did it would die a lonely death in your empty head

As I gently move the discussion back to the economy Louis, let's see if congress moves to hold hearings on who is responsible for the economic collapse. My guess is they will not, for reasons I have already stated.
BTW, I am not aware of any monetary malfeasance committed by the individuals you outlined. However any evidence you have should be handed over immediately to the proper authorities. Hey, I hear Leahy is going to convene a truth commission--LOL!!!
Pot + Kettle=Black.
Good luck with those McCain bumper stickers.
Now I know what is behind their whining, they want to bring back experienced Bush.
Not one of the people I know who do support and voted for him think of him like that.
And I realize this about Geithner.
You put McCain in your idiot article so if I referenced him it was in fact answering you.
And for future reference look up the word vapid. You misused it punkin.
Bush was the worst president in my life time.
Maybe be less of a sheeple next time and do 5 minutes worth of research on your "claims" makes you seem less ignorant.
That's the real quote.
He did?! Or is this just another freaking lie you're telling?
Thanks for the put down! Regan didn't know what was going on in California either. I read of people who were in meetings with him where policy and legislation were discussed and they said he looked like he was sleeping! But when the doors open and they stood before the media, then he went to work, as that is where he excelled.
This is another case where what everyone presents is their own personal best opinion and nothing more. Your opinion is as valid as mine and i recognize that but mine is as valid as yours also. We can't know what went on but can only surmise what we think probably did.
Sp you have presented a statement that amounts to "you are ignorant if you fail to agree with me!" So, to end this diatribe on both our parts, I'll agree with you on everything! Absolutely!
It is an issue that we have never been at ease with, and given our nation's history, this is in some way, understandable. And yet, if we are to make progress in this area, we must feel comfortable enough with one another, and tolerant enough of each other to have frank conversations about the racial matters that continue to divide us."
Part of the reason could be that the minute we say anything regarding race the liberals jump out of the woodwork and start yelling "RACIST!!!" How are we ever going to have an honest conversation with that kind of name calling and crap going on?

Somehow I believe Peter is aware of this irony--LOL!
You failed to mention that the Auto team that Obama has drives Imports not American cars.
Mooch
Yep, people were inspired by short term greed that has put our country down the toilet.
(and we deregulated until we now can't even trust the peanut butter)
