Yes I'm a card carrying, God lovin, gun totin Republican Patriot, But I received an email the other day that the U.S. government was still trying to argue for a ban of handguns in the homes of citizens living in Washington D.C. before the Supreme court.
So I wrote the President and I suggest any who read this do the same ASAP.
Dear Mr. President,
How is it that the citizens of Washington D.C. do not deserve the same protections of the constitution as the rest of the nation?
The U.S. Solicitor General Paul D. Clement's efforts before the U.S. supreme court to support a total handgun ban within Washington D.C. are in direct conflict with our constitutional right to keep and bear arms under the second amendment.
I ask you to please abandon these efforts to restrict the rights of your constituents.
Respectfully
Daniel A. Erskine

Will miracles never cease???
I love the way David and Don feign surprise about this. The vast, vast majority of people in theiir party are the ones doing their best to take the right to bear arms away from Americans.
I wonder what their actual stand on this issue is?
I would think that David and Don are in support of all rights! Isn't that correct David? Don?
Now you want to give me some examples of the love and openmindness of liberals?
Any? Just One?
Dan, you're an idiot.
See Chive . . . only ONE multi-syllable word! Only ONE comma. Not too many words! No actual thinking required. AND . . . it can be understood without a dictionary. You clearly suck at this! LMAO ! ! !

I agree with you, Doyle. This is just plain nuts.
Now you want to give me some examples of the love and openmindness of liberals?
Any? Just One?
Notice the way Danny Boy completely ignored the content of The Chive's argument and then fakes left to partisan baiting? If I didn't know any better, I'd think he was a Republican!
I am not suggesting that all gun owners mangle commas, or that all people who can't find the space bar own guns; my punctuation leaves much to be desired and I'm one of those pacifist liberals. I am curious about people who want me to believe that they are are attentive and responsible with weapons but haven't mastered the keyboard.
This just gets funnier and funnier.
Please some one tell me why you liberals think you are better than conservatives?
Oh! Now I see Chive-O boys,
You are trying to live up to the liberal counterpart of what you interpret my avatar to represent.
Well guys you are certainly are doing a good job of so far.
But some how I don't think it was my avatar that brought about any transformation You guys are the hateful face of activist liberalism.
An example of:
"We wont let any voice be heard but our own and if you mess with us we are going to destroy you" and example of a good supply of intelligence partnered up with the small mind of liberalism.
BTW, Chive-O Boys
Got any facts that validate your premise that "Liberals are better than Conservatives." in those areas you state?
But my new one kinda reminds me of you Chive-O boys. ;-)
Oh, absolutely NOT. Your voice SHOULD be heard. It's the most effective way to display the true spirit of all you anti-intellectual sychophants! In fact, most liberals relish hearing the easily laughed at comments and lunacy from the fringe elements of sanity and simply marvel at the new and maniacally absurd twisting you people need to do as you contort yourself and any semblance of logic into new and perverted ways to show your support for this filthy, criminal, corrupt, sneering, anti-American administration and the Weasle-in-Chief that it represents. By all means, continue to impress us with your...ummm...brilliance. I'm breathless...with anticipation.

I'm reluctant to jump into this discussion but do so with a recommendation. Thomas Frank published a book called "What's the Matter with Kansas", (he is a Kansas native, but plug in virtually any state name... in the UK the book was calles "What's the Matter with America".
Frank chronicles the rise of neo-conservatism in this country as a backlash to the "liberal" politics of the 60's. The main point of the book, and the reason I recommend it to you is this: conservatives have been enticed by hot-button issuse, (such as gun control, gay marriage, etc), to vote against their own interests!
Look at the non-urban landscape of America and ask yourself how good neo-conservatism has been for you? Has it delivered on any of it's promises?
I think your article attracts criticism because many of us are amazed that many conservatives don't seem understand what Mr. Frank has pointed out and detailed so throughly. Not only have social programs been neglected but economically it has been a disaster for blue collar workers all over this country.
But just say "gun control" and all those issues are forgotten.
Looks like an interesting read,
And I'll take a look at it right after I finish reading the book I just received from amazon, Jonah Goldberg's Liberal Fascism.
Although I haven't began reading it yet I understand it shows how early liberalism had a closer relationship with fascism than did conservatism.
If you look at the tactics of liberal activists including the likes of the Chive-o boys here on Gather you can see how those fascist tendencies have carried on through to today.
