Recently, Rep Jim Clyburn(D-South Carolina) let slip a telling comment that has been almost entirely ignored by the mainstream (ie; left wing) media. When asked a question about the upcoming report from General Petraeus regarding the surge and it's effects, Clyburn, the third ranking Democrat in the house said "A positive report from Petraeus would be a PROBLEM FOR US".
There you have it in a ranking Democrats own words. Success by our troops in Iraq is considered bad news by the Democrats. The Democrats have painted themselves into a corner with their position vis-a-vis Iraq. Success makes them wrong. The only way the Democrats can now be proven right on Iraq is for more Americans to die at a faster rate. In effect our elected Democrat office holders are spending each and every day waiting for news reports of more American death and injury. Prior to Clyburn's mistaken utterance of the truth, this was a claim Democrats vociferously denied, despite the fact that basic logic said otherwise.
This is an annoying and constant fact about Democrats in general and hard core liberals in particular. What most consider good news pisses them off. Conversely bad news brightens them like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
You think I am kidding? Try it yourself and see what happens.
PIck your liberal subject and mention to them that economist Larry Kudlow recently reported, "With a record 146 million men and women working, and unemployment at a historically low 4.6%, the American labor force has increased it's after tax, real income by a whopping $257 Billion "
Watch the sneer come over their face before you even finsih that sentence. Wouldn't you think that news like that would be welcomed? Not by liberals. Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Barack Obama, each and every one of them has promised that if they are elected they will turn this economy around............ Note to the three stooges of the left; THAT IS PRECISELY WHAT WE, WHO HAVE JOBS AND WORK ARE AFRAID OF. John (Liveshot) Kerry (D-MAss) calls the economy "an unmitigated disaster". I can only assume turning it around would mean higher taxes, higher unemployment and less people working........That's their idea of progress??
How about the end of the world rapidly approaching because of global warming. Rising temperatures melting the polar ice cap, leading to flooding our cities and extinguishing live all over the east and west coasts, destroying food supplies and inconveniencing penguins, polar bears and seals world wide?
Contrary to what most Democrats believe the average American finds this entire idea rather upsetting and not something to look forward to. That said, wouldn't it seem to follow that when an independent analyst caught errors in NASA's US temperature readings causing them to be revised and lowered, showing no increase in temperatures for the last 8 years and that 5 of the hottest years occurred pre-WWII, there should be happiness and relief from the global warming crowd? Shouldn't Al Gore be all giggily and and happy to be wrong? Of course not. The Global warming crowd dismissed this information as irrelevelant......
Most recently, Karl Rove resigned. This should be cause for dancing in the streets of every liberal commune from Cambridge to Berkeley, but instead they fume. MoveOn.org snipes that he is probably off planning a controlled demolition of the Sears Tower........
USA Today reported last week that large scale al-Qaeda style attacks are down 50% since the surge began....
The economy is still tooling along at a great and sustainable clip.
Global warming might not be as bad as the doomsayers predicted.
Tell all these things to a liberla and they will look at you like you just stuffed their pet kitten down the garbage disposal. Why does good news upset liberals so? To say otherwise flies in the face of facts. Let's not forget the good Representative Clyburns shockingly candid admission that "good news from Iraq is a problem for us (Democrats)"
What a depressing bunch of people to associate with. No wonder so many liberals are so bitchy all the time. They belong to a party that is all doom and gloom all the the time.

I've said it before and I will say it again. This liberal-neocon issue is a red herring the "powers that be" in Washington DC have devised to create unrest among the ranks of citizens.
And the liberal media is the biggest myth of them all.
I hope you were kidding about there not being a liberal media? Maybe if you only watch Fox. Other than that its pretty liberal out there in news world.
Post reporter Dan Balz asked Clyburn, "What do Democrats do if General Petraeus comes in in September and says, 'This is working very, very well at this point; we would be foolish to back away from it'?" Clyburn responded: "Well, that would be a real big problem for us, no question about that, simply because of those 47 Blue Dogs. I think there would be enough support in that group to want to stay the course, and if the Republicans were to remain united, as they have been, then it would be a problem for us."
In other words, Clyburn did not say that good news from Iraq is bad news for Democrats. He simply said that a recommendation from Petraeus against "backing away" from the current course in Iraq would interfere with Democrats' efforts to in Congress for legislation to begin withdrawal.
Indeed, Clyburn added: "None of us want to see a bad result in Iraq. If we are going to get in position to yield a good result, I think Democrats want to see that."

I see that Lex still lisps...
And it works....look at Lex's response to me....I am now a loser based on 1 comment. I will say this whoever is pulling the strings does a good job...they have us hating each other.
Keep it comin baby!
Can you take as well as dish it out ?
I doubt it fool.
As for the article content, do you suppose this is why the white house is going to draft the report, rather than allow Patraeus to do so?
I have to agree, doom and gloom is what the left strives for, it somehow makes them feel it is what "rallies " them, they have this victim mentality that only works if you are a victim.
Talk about power mad leftists, they embrace guys like Hugo Chavez, a man overthrowing a Democracy right under our noses and not a peep out of any one other than to praise him. Why is his stealing of his fellow countryman's civil rights going on un-protested?
We get attacked and the first thing out of the mouths of the left is to squelch as soon as possible any replaying of the 9/11 news footage. That in itself is on purpose , so as to let the memory fade and be rewritten.
I think we should see a replay of those newscasts on 9/11 every year as if it were happening over and over again.
Someone did take the time to provide some "facts" for uyou, Chris, but the facts about Clymer's remarks didn't fit the tidy box your rant comes in - so you let loose a stream of vitriol.
Other facts for you to ignore:
Kudlow is a free market fundamentalist, and does not speak for all economists, or even the majority of them. ( I watch him, he puts on a great show and I have a significant interest in the markets.)
Why cite Kudlow and then assume that every other opinion is bullshit?
You can do that, but you can't do that and claim you are having a debate of the issues.
If you think that the majority of Americans are feeling comfortable and confident about the national economy, then it isn't the Democrats who are out of touch.
The unease about jobs, wages, and health insurance has nothing to do with the alleged pessimism of "liberals" (whoever they are), it is real and all your blustering and tub-thumping won't change that.
