It seems that deep well of compassion and empathy that the left is so quick demonstrate to the media, and trips over itself to say is lacking by the conservatives, has run dry as far as their poster girl Cindy Sheehan is concerned. The same Cinday Sheehan who more or less stalked George Bush outside his ranch in Texas. The same Ms Sheehan, who when the president wouldn't meet with her, the left castigated him for being a coward and uncaring. The same Cindy Sheehan who the shameless political whores of the Democrat party paraded before cameras as the postergirl for the liberal agenda. The same Cindy Sheehan who was sent at DNC expense to meet with avowed socialist dictator and virulent hater of the USA, Venezualan strong-man Hugo Chavez, as some type of unofficial American ambassador. That Ms Sheehan is now persona non grata of the Democrats.
As fine an example of the shameless hypocrisy of the liberal politicians as one could ask for, the Democrats now will have nothing to do with her. It seems Cindy Sheehan began to read her own press clippings and believed what the hucksters and movers and shakers of the Democrat party continuosly whispered in her ear during her 15 minutes of fame. Namely that she mattered to them at all. She is now learning the painful lesson foretold by more than a few consevative writers, that she is as disposable as a used tissue to the Democrats. Ms. Sheehan had the audacity to call Nancy Pelosi on the carpet for failing to do anything that she promised to do before the Dems took control of both sides Congress. Rather than just bitch about Sheehan is actually threatening to run against Pelosi if she doesn't follow through with her pre-election promise to begin impeachment proceedings against the president. Strangely, the press who could not parade Sheehan's picture before the American people enough when she was a raving anti-war Bush attacker, now can not seem to find time to even mention her name. It would seem now that she has turned her vitriol against the hypocrites who used her like a rented a mule and now want nothing to do with her, the press has no interest in her. Her "Hollywood friends" avoid her like a leper. She can't get on television even when she gets arrested as she was several weeks ago for refusing to leave the office of a congressman who refused to come out of his office and see her and finally had her removed by capitol police.
Apparently compassion only flows from Democrats like Speaker Pelosi when it is coming from a useful puppet. Once that puppet decides to start asking questions they are summarily and swiftly thrown out with yesterdays political promises.
I actually feel badly for Cindy Sheehan. I disagree completely with everything she says, but sympathize with a heart broken by grief and fed false promises so she caould be used as a political pawn. Pelosi should truly be ashamed of herself.

I do not feel sorry for her one iota. The phrase, "When you swim with the sharks...." comes to mind. I felt sorry for her in the beginning. We heard a lot from day one because she is from the central coast of Ca, like I am, but I soon lost interest.
I think that she was so angry about losing her son that she went to far and continued to go even further. Saying that she was going to run against Pelosi was just the icing on the cake for me. What was she thinking?? Of course I posed that question a lot when I would hear about her on the news.
I think it is darn time she got back to the business of grieving her son like so many other Americans have had to do for their family members.
Sorry to say she got exactly what she deserved. Found out the hard way the her Democratic leaders she supported on her crusade ended up stabbing her in the back and throwing her to the curb. She is now in debt, husband left her and is desperately trying to find a way to pay for all the expenses she incurred.
As for Pelosi, she is an embarassment to this country since she has done everything in her power to do the opposite of what she stated when assumed her position. Both showed their true colors and Sheehan is ultimately paying the price for her decisions and just a matter of time before Pelosi will be facing the same.
The whole thing is tragic and points, loudly, at corruption and the truth of whether there is compassion and understanding, and where,
Cindy Sheehan is a true American.
The guy may have a lot to learn about democracy but then, so does the Bush administration and they ain't sellin' anybody cheap oil.
I do not unequivocally support any leader, of any country, especially Chavez, but I have to clear this up: Chavez is only a "dictator", one that we are so terribly frightened of (much like we were made to fear Grenada during Reagan's administration--your town's police force could have invaded and occupied Grenada yet we were supposed to be afraid anyway), only because he opposes American foreign policies. If you are a conservative and you support President Bush's foreign policies than you are equally guilty of the double standards and blatatant hypocrisy Republican officials, and in some cases the Democrats as well, are guilty of.
Where is Bush's outrage at dictators like Islam Karimov, Uzbekistan's president, a man who massacres his own people, makes people go missing, stifles opposition, and is guilty of far more crimes than you will ever find on Chavez. Oh that's right, he is a "wonderful" friend of Bush's. Chavez was democratically elected; that is far more than what you can say for some of the dictators, like Karimov, that the Bush administration supports. Pick up any American history book and you dont have to read too far into it to see the long list of dictators and tyrants the US has supported; from Batista in Cuba, to Pinochet in Chile, Rios Montt in Guatemala, Duvealiers in Haiti, and Suharto in Indonesia.
You see, its not a matter of how a leader governs its people, but how it governs in relation to US interests. Thats why the US attempted, but failed, to illegally get Chavez out through a coup. The Venezuelan media you cite, furthermore, was terribly corrupt and reflective of the wealthy elites in that country that despised Chavez and preferred their own dictator; one who would continue to rape the country of its resources and continue the country on its downward spiral, creating a huge gap between rich and poor. So yeah I think Chavez is the better choice for that country at this time. And no I dont think you should trust the propaganda you hear that was manufactured by the opposition media in that country, which is linked to our own corporate media conglomerates here.
Truth is, that the crimes Chavez committed are largely based on myth and that the man does reflect the wishes of the majority, which are the poor and working class. You cant place him in the same category as North Korea and Iranian leadership unless you are considering the common megolamania all leaders, especially ours, are suffering from. And if you want to have a serious discussion on world affairs dont listen to Fox News. They are about as bad as Venezuelan media.
Perhaps you like your news from Dan Rather and CBS. Oh, sorry. They fired him because of his hype in the news. You read too many left wing news reports, and can't handle Fox news because they don't lie about America and give you something to whine about. Sorry for getting off the subject.
Cindy is an embarassment. She's a political liabilty for both parties. But maybe this nation needs a howling spector wandering thru the media to remind us of the human cost of war.
That's funny, Rory is Canadian, I doubt seriously he gives a rip about our gas prices.
I am not enchanted with what Democrats have managed to do so far, but I am much more encouraged by what they attempted to do in the face of such a narrow vote margin and a Republican in the White House, so I count any bill they get to the President's desk a victory even if he vetoes it. Everyone knows that they have no control over that.
I am deeply disappointed in Democrats for loading every bill up with as much and more pork than did the Republicans. That was quite a record to achieve given Republicans being the tax cut and spend anyway party that they are. I still contend that any pork project should be identified and the sponsor be required to show where the money for it is coming from.
All in all, however, despite the setbacks the Democrats have managed to do more in six months than the Republicans did in six years. That's not too bad. I sure wish they would do more and faster. Maybe if they didn't emulate Mr. Bush and take so many vacations?
I dont watch the news period. I dont get my information like you do--Im a student of international relations, and its my profession, not my hobby.
I dont care what happened to Dan Rather.
And you want to tell me that you have the truth on your side because you watch O'Reilly...
Plus, like any other good conservative you completely side-steps the entirely valid statements I made on US ducplicity. Do you think I'm making it up that Islam Karimov is a US-sponsored dictator? Please feel free to escape your Fox News confines to actually find out something about your world.
I have genuine love for my country but I also love truth, justice and accountability. And I also believe in helping my country make sound foreign policy decisions...Im not a robot like you that accepts everything you see on Fox News.
Some of the greatest early Americans, Thomas Paine, for instance, were rebels that pursued justice at all costs.
> It is truly a reprehensible display of the depths some
> politicians will stoop to for power. None of those who
> stood with her while she carved up Bush ever gave a
> damn about her or her son. She was nothing to them
> but a very effective and convenient political bludgeon.
> Absolutely disgraceful
I think your character assassination of Cindy Sheehan and
the Democrats masquerading as some of news article or
think piece is what's disgraceful.
I used to think right wing radio was about as bad as the
corruption of the national discourse could get, but now
we get to hear every right wing and left wing idiot
babble on constructing their own fantasy worlds and
people are actually spending time to argue the points.
It is obvious from this "story" that you know nothing
about the history Cindy Sheehan and you are using
some of the facts that eveyone knows to spin some
a total lie.
If you are going to play pretend newsperson, why
don't you at least get a few facts to spice up your
story out of some kind of respect for the truth?
First, Chris claims Dems consider Cindy Sheehan "persona non grata" but offers exactly zero evidence to back up that claim. Moreover, Chris neglects--perhaps purposely--the fact Cindy Sheehan has said she wishes to leave the Democratic Party because Dems haven't pursued the impeachment of Young Master Bush with more vigor.
Second, Chris omits the fact that many conservatives routinely call her a "whore" and a "terrorist" because she had the temerity to ask why her son was killed.
> However, in defense of Pelosi, she was probably busy ironing
> her burka, so she can meet with our enemies.
&
> Perhaps you like your news from Dan Rather and CBS. Oh,
> sorry. They fired him because of his hype in the news.
OK ...
Nancy Pelosi = Burka = Islamic Terrorist = Attack
And
Dan Rather = CBS = Left Wing = Attack
This reflexive retillian thinking is such a caricature of
human reasoning, I can understand your use of a
cartoon as your icon Carol ... I just wonder why anyone
(Gustavo) would waste the time having to respond
to such ludicrous claims?
This "noise machine" character of right-wing people
obscures anything other than the wackos on the far
left and the wackos on the far right ... when this happens
80% of the people lose.
The democratic leadership isn't likely to support anyone who run against one of their most powerful politicians. I don't find it the least bit surprising that the DNC would not embrace her at this time. Watch what happens if she wins the primary, however. Cindy not only was on the absolute correct side of the illegal republiCON war in Iraq, but she had the balls to bring it to the table. She stared "commander guy" down and won. Name one current democrat that can claim the same. Cindy would not only be a terrific leader in congress, but she's sorely needed. I pray she wins. Pelosi's been an embarrassment from the moment she publicly stated that impeachment was off the table. Criminals need impeachment. Pelosi is violating her oath of office by not bringing articles forward.
How come George Bush is no longer the darling of the right? How come none of the wing nut politicians want their glorious leader to help them campaign? How come they've cast him aside, so callously?
Gustavo, great stuff. The "right" cannot tolerate ANY democratically elected leader. Democracy poses a serious threat to corporatism, as Chavez has demonstrated. Empowering the people only makes democracy stronger, and that's what REALLY pisses off the wing nuts.
Carol, check your facts. Dan Rather was never fired. Oh, and the story that he reported, about your little cheerleader pretendident getting preferrential treatment to get into the TANG and then going AWOL...he still stands by it to this day, and there has not been a single shred of documentation to refute it.
Chavez was elected and with a larger majority than Mr. Bush ever held. My comment about his need to learn a bit about democracy had to do with his suppression of dissent in the Venezuelan media. I have seen no reports of his having killed anyone, so I don't know where you get that from.
I'm not a betting man, but I'm sure you're wrong about Chavez starting a war in South America. The man has a lot of allies in the region, more than the US does.
Exactly what "consequences" has your current 'Commander-in-Chief' brought down on Chavez's head? Chavez stood in New York city and called George W. Bush the devil before the whole world. He went on and on about the stench of sulphur at the podium where Bush had spoken the day before. What did Bush do or say about it? Nothing.
Chavez is an imperfect leader and seems to be succumbing to megalomania, as humans with too much power tend to. Castro is even a worse example of a leader, having come to power through a revolutionary coup and never having attempted to earn the democratic legitimacy that Chavez has. But either man is a better leader and less of threat to world peace and security than the Bozo in the Oval office right now.
I mean you cant have it both ways. Let me explain myself: The Bush doctrine assumes that preepmptive strikes are perfectly acceptable, and it also ignores international norms and laws on state sovereignty, putting a state's interests (American) above all else. So by invading and occupying Iraq we ignored international law on what it acceptable behavior vis-a-vis another country's sovereignty. By this reasoning and behavior we should not be suprised if other countries also act to preemptively strike and occupy others based on their own national interests, whatever they may be.
So dont suddenly act concerned about stability, peace, international law and norms, and state sovereignty rights from aggressors...your beloved president has thrown all these notions out of the window.
The leftist Venezuelan leader also condemned Israel for what he called the "terrorism" and "madness" of its attacks in Lebanon, Venezuelan state television reported.
"Let's save the human race, let's finish off the U.S. empire," Chavez said. "This (task) must be assumed with strength by the majority of the peoples of the world."
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad presented Chavez with the Islamic Republic Medal in a ceremony at Tehran University. The award was to show Iran's gratitude for his "support for Iran's stance on the international scene, especially its opposition to a resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency," Iranian state-run television said.
"He is the one who has resisted imperialism for years and has defended the interests of his and other Latin American countries," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying.
In February, Venezuela opposed an IAEA decision to report Iran to the U.N. Security Council over its disputed nuclear program.
A draft proposal Friday by permanent members of the U.N. Security Council gives Iran until the end of August to suspend uranium enrichment or face the threat of economic and diplomatic sanctions.
The U.S. accuses Iran of seeking nuclear weapons. Tehran maintains its program is purely peaceful and aimed at generating electricity.

There's your hero. He denies the holocaust ever happened just like his buddy in Iran. He considers Castro "like a father".
You must be so proud.
More on your lovable dictator.
Internally, Chavez has already rewritten the constitution, stacked the courts and begun throwing political opponents into jail. And some say he is now looking beyond Venezuela's borders. With billions of dollars in oil profits, Chavez is buying advanced Russian fighter planes and helicopters, dramatically increasing the size of his armed forces and integrating it with Cuba's.
Meanwhile, Chavez laughs all the way to the bank. He sits atop one of the largest oil reserves in the world. Venezuela owns CITGO. And as America's fourth largest oil supplier, he believes he has the U.S. by the throat. And he just might.
Chavez calls this revolution "Bolivarian," named after the South American liberator, Simon Bolivar. But for his opponents, this revolution has been anything but liberating.
Maria-Corina Machado, opposition leader and mother of three, faces prison time for simply taking grant money from the National Endowment for Democracy, a program of the United States Congress.
"This is a country where anyone who dares to think and speak differently from the government," said Machado, "is seen as an enemy."
And at the TV channel Globovision, TV talk show host Leopoldo Castillo has had to learn to keep his acid tongue in check. There is a new censorship law against insulting President Chavez.
Castillo remarked, "David Letterman, every day, in tonight's show, he makes fun of President Bush. Nothing happens. Here, with a new law, if you make fun of the president, of the senior officer of the Supreme Court, of any minister, you can go to jail."
Adolfo Taylhardat should know. He used to be Venezuela's ambassador to Cuba.
Taylhardat said, "…So I'm very much familiar with the internal situation in Cuba. And what I see is that Chavez slowly has been introducing all the elements of the Cuban regime, Cuban system into Venezuela. He wants to make Venezuela be as similar to Cuba as possible. And he wants to present Venezuela as a victim of U.S. imperialism."
In this typical diatribe, Chavez compared capitalism to Count Dracula, Frankenstein, Jack the Ripper and the Boston Strangler, but then added that Capitalists are much worse than those monsters.
Quite a humanitarian your guy Chavez is. I can see why you love this guy.
Each side has its own agendas (note the plural). I say agendas because contrary to simplistic thinking there is no single agenda that every person from a particular political persuasion adheres. There is no right wing agenda....there are dozens, maybe hundreds. The same is true of left wing agendas. There isn't one to which everyone you call left wing adheres. This is not a black and white world where the good guys are easily identified by their white hats. That's not how life works.
Also, why in heck do you care what people rate your articles? If you are stating your opinion, then the ratings shouldn't matter a shred. To be honest, I don't even know how to check to see how many votes of what size a post gets.
Carolyn you bring up very valid points and I am hard pressed to disagree very much with most of them. The entire point of this article was to show just how shamelessly she WAS USED soley for political gain. I truly find it lower than low
There is nothing left or right about mainstream politics - Democratic or Republican. They're all hypocritcally running towards the constantly shifting middle in order to please as many people as they can, and get votes. In recent years though, they've mostly forgotten about pleasing the people and chosen to please their corporate backers more often than not.
For about 5 minutes, Cindy Sheehan got caught up in that race to the middle, on both sides. For about 5 minutes there, it looked like the majority of the country was starting to think that maybe war wasn't the answer and Cindy got swept up into the debate (which was, is and never will be a "fair and balanced" debate).
Cindy Sheehan is a peace pioneer. The actions that she has taken are not in response only to the Iraq war or this president or this congress. She believes that ALL war is wrong. That horribly leftist, nightmarishly passive message that peace is the answer is completely ignored in the U.S. media. Millions have marched in protest before, during and after the invasion of Iraq. I was in New York for the United for Peace and Justice March past the Republican National Convention in 2004. The amount of people involved was staggering - the march stretched for miles. The right wing media barely mentioned the march. Families of 9/11 victims begged in press conferences not to retaliate for the losses of their loved ones. The right wing media never picked it up.
We're all only hearing one side - the side of Rupert Murdoch and the neo-con sympathizing, right wing owned media. Perpetual war serves their interests just fine. The question is: Does it serve the American peoples' interests?
The fact is rightwingers like Chris W. were the ones denouncing Cindy Sheehan as a "whore" and a "traitor" because she had the guts to directly question Young Master Bush as to why her son died and for what reason. Ideologues like Chris like families who just take their dead home and shut up.
It's amusing to watch Chris rail on about Hugo Chavez. Chavez, after all, was elected and re-elected with very clear majorities, in democratic elections. Despite this, Young Master Bush actually attempted to overthrow him. It's also funny that Chris would bring up meglomania when his hero has advocated torture, indefinite detention without charges, wiretapping of US citizens, and using DoJ as a campaign apparatus.
In 2001, the BA launched a failed coup attempt against Hugo Chavez. Why? Because he was extremely popular with the people and had wrestled the people's oil industry away from oligarchs. His plan was to use that wealth to rebuild his nation, and give his desperately poor people a future.
For this, he was targeted by the BA. Thankfully, the coup attempt was yet another in a soon-to-be endless list of BA failures. The BA was sent packing with their tails between their legs, because the power of the people rose up and demanded it.
So, for the past 6 years, the BA and their propagandists have been poking Chavez in the eye with a stick at every opportunity, in order to try to minimize his power and marginalize him as a leader.
What generally happens when you constantly poke someone on the eye with a stick? Eventually, they respond, don't they? And so it is with Chavez, who has responded by cocking off himself. This, the bush worshippers desperately rush to cling to as "proof" that Chavez is a really mean guy.
In fact, he's merely responding to some of the things that the BA has said and done to him over the years. Joseph G. makes some outstanding points, and you can really see it played out in the wing nut's positions on both Chavez and Iran.
Wing nuts only know aggression and war. They have no concept of peace at all. To a wing nut, peace = wimpy. Even though, for some odd reason, the vast majority of them seem never available when it's actually time to suit up for battle.
Peace = wimpy. War = strong. How very wrong they are, once again. It takes far more strength to avoid war when it is flung at one, and to remain peaceful. How different this nation and the world would be today, had the BA not launched an unnecessary, illegal war after 9/11, and had instead worked with other nations, including Iran and Syria, to capture and bring to justice not only those directly responsible for 9/11 (shadow government) and the anthrax killings (shadow government), but anyone else actively training, recruiting, planning terrorist acts.
Rather than being $500 billion further in debt, murdering 1,000,000 Iraqis and 3,600 more Americans, and causing an explosive growth in global terrorism, we could have virtually ended the threat by now.
As is usually the case when republiCON policies prove themselves to be the utter failures that they are, this one is costing us big time, and will for decades to come. Hopefully, at some point, enough of us will finally wake up and realize that all of these drastic failures have GOP fingerprints all over them that we can keep them out of power long enough to right the ship before they come along to kick holes in it again.
"The price today is not at all connected with the fundamentals of the oil industry. There is a good balance between supply and demand. Inventories are in a comfortable position, therefore fundamentals do not support high prices today. There are problems not in the supply (of crude) but probably more of a problem of supply of products from refineries. Nobody today is looking for additional crude because all you have to do is look at the level of inventories which are in a very, very comfortable position." Saudi Arabian Oil Minister Ali Al- Naimi, July 07.
"The world is facing a shortage of gasoline and diesel, but not crude oil. If the market needs more oil, OPEC will do its utmost but it needs to be convinced that there is a shortage." Qatari energy minister Abdullah Al-Attiyah. July 07.
Great comment Clark. It is the rampant stupidity of the conservative mind which has led mankind into one cataclysm after another and ALWAYS to pad the pockets of cowardly oligarchs.
1) World War I; the president who brought the country into WWI? Woodrow Wilson? Wilson's party? Democrat.
2) World WAR II; president bringing US into war? Franklin D Roosevelt. Party? Democrat. (Also responsible for instituting detention centers for Asians in the US)
3) Korea: president? Truman. Party? Democrat.
4) Vietnam: president? Kennedy/Johnson. Party? Democrat (president who ended US involvement? Nixon Republican.
Yeah, Joe sure looks like the party of peace. Literall every war the USA was involved in during the 20th century was a war a Democrat brought the country into. Come back aagain if you ever get a clue. You aren't going to get away with spouting bullshit that is patently false here. If you want fantasy land articles may I recommend my esteemed colleague Mr Clark Kent, the two of you can have a nice ideological circle jerk together.
As for your comment Clark more of the same blah blah blah. Conspiracy, black helicopter republican devil BS. You really ought to find a couple other tricks. You are truly becoming a one trick pony whose one trick is so overused. The truth is Clark, you are a socialist. It is obvious to anyone who readds what you say. You hate your own country. I read that you claim to have been in the military at one time. I really would love to see your discharge record, I'm betting it was involuntary and less than honorable, but we will never know will we? You hide behind a psuedonym, are a voracious consumer and purveyor of every lunatic conspiracy theory I have ever heard. You constantly say that the administration went into Iraq illegally, when the fact of the matter almost every member of both the house and senate (repub and DEMOCRAT) voted for and authorized it. Your socialist hero Chavez illegally stole an oil company from it's owners and turned it into his own little war funding moneymaker (hmmm sounds kinda of like)...but no not when a socialist does it then it's "social reform" ) His last opponent in an election was put in prison for 3 months on a bullshit treason charge and finally released because of the massive protests in her defense. He has taken control of all media outlets in the country, so literally everything the Venezuelan media puts out now gets filtered by him. He has appointed and filled the legislative arm of the government with political lackeys who NEVER vote against anything he proposes. Oh, I almost forget the Venezuelan Constitution limits the time a "president" can serve to two terms. Chavez has already said that he is going to change the Consitution to fix that little inconvenience. Wow! what a true hero you have there. Sounds like heaven perhaps you should consider moving there, it's everything you want for us with a better climate.
Sam actually I feel like an intern in a psych ward without enough meds for the drooling idiots.....You are correct there is no shortage of crude. You are also correct it is a refining issue. (i'm betting that's a first for you being right twice in a row). Funny thing about the refinery issue Sam. Every time an oil company tries to get approval to build another refinery, the Democrats go apoplectic and throw up so many roadblocks that it is virtually impossible for them get built. Thank the Sierra Club, thank Greenpeace, thank the other environmental fanatics that would have us living in caves and walking everywhere. Thank those lobbies for buying part and parcel people likeJohn Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid, et al.
Oh one more thing for you Joe. It is funny that you meantion the KKK as a right wing organization, especially considering that the former grand dragon of the West Virginia branch of the KKK is none other than Robert Byrd the Senior Democrat Senator from West Virginia......All this time Byrd has been a right winger and we thought he was just a crazy old bigot liberal......You are truly a clueless tool Joe.
Jade you need to read before you comment. I defy you to find on place in this article or where I refer to Bush as a hero or praiseworthy. I'm fairly sure I never mentioned him at all. Typical of you lefty loonies, when an argument you can't defend is put forth you do the one thing you are good at, change the subject. Predictable and pathetic. Debating you folks is like shoving someone in a wheelchair down the stairs. The able beating up on the helpless.....It's all I can do to keep from bursting out laughing...............Strike that....I couldn't help it. You guys are a joke.
Actually I can see why Chris idolizes Young Master Bush; they have so much in common. Both are intellectually arrested.
I will once again challenge you or Sam or any of your politically limp friends to refute, WITH MORE THAN YOUR OWN SORRY ASS OPINION, any fact I have presented. That means prove it in case those words and that sentence structure was too complex for your one track minds.
Good luck because everything I've said indisputable fact, something liberals actually fear like a vampire fears garlic and sunlight.
You and the rest of the modern conservative moment are duped by the "created reality" folks into a pattern of thought and conclusion not based on fact or history. Let's try it honest for a change.
Now Chris this is the typical load of crap dished out by RWN as political debate. How does this answer factually how the price of oil has tripled under Dubya and what relevence oil price has to do with drilling in Anwar? This is typical "don't got an answer so change the subject" retort. School boy stuff. I present this as an example why you and your kind are out of power and what you have left is dwindling fast. Like I said if you have anything reasonably intelligent to say let's mix it up. I'm not interested in going line for line in that post alone to "decrap" it. New thread, intelligent debate, if you're capable.
Sam: It's generally not the Democrats who block new refineries, but rather the NIMBY folks who are of both political persuasions. It's the same for a nuclear waste dump and many other things including power plants. People want the benefits of these things but they don't want them in their own areas. This goes back a long way. Some of it is justified if you read the history of the building of nuclear power plants and how many times the builders were found guilty of intimidating inspectors, falsifying records about weld integrity, and a ton of other things. People got burned by the dishonesty and eventually just decided not to trust any of them.
I really hate the idea that nobody on either side can be trusted to do what is right without a club over their head. That's wrong in so many ways.
Carolyn, thanks for jumping in here and thanks to Keith for bringing up that fact I overlooked. You'll notice not one of the lefy have mentioned it and have gone out of their way to ignore it. I guess that meeting didn't count because it wasn't a staged left wing war bashing event. The fact that the president of the country wouldn't comply with a dog and pony left orchestrated lynching is somehow a sign of some nefarious intent. Pathetic just doesn't seem adequate.
As far as Sam's calims to sources. What is it you want Sam I only use sources you like to use Sam? Ones that dtrictly march to their masters in the DNC playbook? Sorry Sam you don't get to decide what sources are valid (every one you use) and what aren't (any one that disagrees with your socialist America hating agenda) I used several sources for my information if you choose to ignore the truth in them too bad. I notice you still ignore the facts about the claim (specious though it is) of the Dem. being the party of peace. A claim completely blown up by history. Must just drive you crazy to have every little bullshit claim and slogan you throw up to be shown for what it is. I don't blame you for being mad. It sucks yo be shown as an unthinking sheep loyal to a party that has failed at virtually every single major social engineering project they have created. Open your eyes man. You're being duped.
Great, bring up Sandy Berger. As if that proves your point. Please rework your argument and get back to us.
How much of the money that I earn should I be allowed to keep???
I dare you.
I ahd a friend named Chip once, he was 9 when he went into Junior high school he started using his real name.
Chipper if you want to be taken as more than a drive by clown, I suggest you learn how to spell. Especially if you intend on posting comments on articles that are widely read. Showing your illiteracy just strengthens the image of you as an illiterate nitwit, It appears your somewhat more intelligetn comrades have abandoned you and left you alone for me to carve up. I have to give you credit Chippy, you have written the longest comment I have read that doesn't contain one single fact. Bravo for you. The Democrats have accomplished exactly what Chipster? HIking the minimum wage to get infaltion rolling again?? Yay!!! The only other thing have done is vote themselves a pay raise and raise more taxes, that's quite a list. And while you think Iran having nukes is a neato idea, even the UN has spoken out against. You see most of the civilized nations of the world long ago signed a nuclear non-proliferation treaty. I know those are big words maybe you can look them up after your morning cartoons and bowl of Captain Crunch.
"propoganda, controversay, PROPGANDA, utterace, obiviously, Imperialst.........obviously not typos as many of these (and these are not all) are spelled incorrectly the same way several times. Keep drinking the Kool Aid katie, one of you lefty nitwits remind me again when the last time this country was attacked by a terrorist group??
What was that 6 years ago??
And again how often in the 8 years before that? What was that you say? 12 times??
Perhaps in all your infinite wisdom you or Chip might enlighten us as to why the attacks have ceased.... There are only two options, no matter how twist and squirm nothing can change that fact. We have not been attacked either:
A) Because they are unable to attack us

B) Because they are unwilling to.
You choose either way you lose. As much as you are loathe to confront groups who wish to destroy this country, there remains a very large core group of Americans that are willing to do what needs to be done to secure our security, while sniveling cowards like katie, joe and the chipster tremble and apologize for defending ourselves, our allies and our very way of life. If there had been more people like chip in the 1940's this country would speaking german now, the Jews would be but a memory and most of would be goose steeping down Pennsylavania Avenue. Somehow in the last 35 years the party of FDR and JFK has turned into the party of weak kneed pacifist, appeasers who find no price to high a price to pay to avoid upsetting those that would kill us.
And, no matter the disagreements (and I'm liberal), Chavez is a nasty, nasty individual.
I will disagree with one point I read earlier, and that concerns his speech at the UN about Bush being satan. Yes, many in the audience smiled. But almost to a man, the chamber was terribly embarrassed about the incident. Countries that are not the best of friends to the United States found the incident contemptable and a mockery of the institution.
I mean, what is your point but to rile people up to get them to argue,
and then come in with your prefab arguments and declare everyone
who disagrees with you an ass?
There is not a civil or objective fact in your whole article, and certainly
not in tone. If the point of your article is that you can dismiss and
attack a whole political party, philosophy and half the population by
attacking one person, that implies either that you find some value
in attacks because you just like to fight, or you perhaps think there
are no Republicans that have equally bad qualities as Cindy Sheehan,
or that Republicans have never dumped on one of their own. Either
case does make you an automaton becuase there is no creative
process or synthesis in your article, it is just one of about 3 million
right-wing attack pieces published each day.
Bruce I wasn't am not and have not intended to attack Cindy Sheehan in this article rather the shameful way she was manipulated as a political pawn by both the leaders of the Dem. party and the press. Once she strayed from their script and started getting uppity and tried holding them to there word they dumped her like yesterdays trash. You want to dispute that?? Good luck.
I don't think you have the honesty or integrity to admit what you were doing of that you are wrong, that is what makes you a fair candidate for Katie to call you a puppet and be accurate.
