More encouraging news on the illegal alien front today. While, literally thousands of criminal border jumpers, rioted on the west coast, showing the rest of the country (or those of us who still care about this country) their true feelings about the United States, by burning, desecrating and unrinating on the flag of OUR country and simultaneously demanding citizenship.....
While LA tactical police unit members were getting suspended and possibly fired for doing their jobs and trying to keep these felons from running wild and wreaking even more havoc in and around greater Los Angeles, all, one would assume, in celebration of Cinco de Mayo!!!!! I mean I guess I'm being culturally insensitive here, by not acknowledging the legitimacy of their right to to injure, maim and vandalize, in recognition of a holiday for a country they wanted out of so much they committed a felony to leave it. After all, how many of us haven't snuck into Canada with a couple thousand of friends and trashed Vancouver on the 4th of July???
While out west these criminals were doing their best to make a commercial for why our borders need to be sealed.....YESTERDAY, back east in New Jersey, the very heart of the illegal alien issue slithered out of its slimey hole and, thankfully was caught. In Fort Dix, NJ, six Islamic militants from Yugoslavia and the Middle East were arrested on charges of plotting to attack the Fort Dix Army post and "kill as many soldiers as possible," authorities said Tuesday. Now as shocking as it is to find out that yet again Muslims are involved in a plot to attack the United States, (because according to the left Muslims are our friends...) there is even more shocking information regarding these terrorists. Of the six, 3 were ILLEGAL ALIENS!!!!! I don't know about the rest of you, but I am personally shocked that terrorists would be sneaking into this country illegally. All I keep hearing about is Hector and Juanita and Jorge and Maria, who are (if you ignore the fact that they are felons) really nice people who just want to trim your hedges, harvest your crop, mow your lawn etc.......
Can anyone now say with any credibility and/or a straight face, that our border doesn't need to be sealed as a matter of national security?? Don't even attempt to make the argument that these are just a few bad guys.......I DON"T CARE!!!!!! If you were going to have a party at your house this weekend with about 75 guests, and you somehow found out that 1 of those guests (you can't really be sure which one) intended to rape your wife, kill your kids and steal everything you have, would you just go on with the party anyway???
This is INSANITY!!! The National Guard should be sealing that border as you read this. No traffic either way except through customs checkpoints, any violators will be shot without further warning.
Where is the outrage at this invasion and blatant contempt for our laws?? Does anyone care???

Nope, ain't gonna happen.
I'd rather be judged by 12 people on a jury than an illegal who has nothing to lose and knows he can come right back after deporting him. Someone we can't track with no fingerprints, DNA, iris scans or even an ID. And how does this amnesty thing work when the terrorist, gangbangers, drug lords, human traffikers, criminals etc are given amnesty too.
Or do they just not sign up and be INVINCIBLE, OPPS I'm sorry I mean invisible forever?
Tancredo 08
I certainly hope you are not even attempting to imply that about me Juan. I am who I am and I proudly believe what I believe. So rather than slander with innuendo Juan spit it out. Who are you accusing?
Then, they come here and have the audacity to complain about gringo this or gringo that and then on top of that don't want to learn english even after having been here for over twenty years and have become legal residents of this country and still insist that they do not have to learn english because they don't like gringo and then when you ask them what the "heck" are they doing here if they don't like it here so much and why don't they go back to where the "heck" they came from they'll tell you with no shame that there's no jobs where they came from and they've earned the right to be here...hmmm....am I missing something???
Lets put our heads together on this folks we've gotta be smarter than they are...
No offense dude, but it did kinda look that way. Maybe it would help to explain what you intended. I'm curious, I just didn't understand what you were getting at. Maybe i'm a little slow tonight.
IF amnesty is given, how do we stop the criminals, terrorists, gang bangers, drug dealers from getting it, and now we own the problems.
Border agents we have to pay every week ... a wall we pay for ONCE!
Your not alone Chris, we are many.
It's good to see that the majority of comments were positive, and on topic.
An ironic point: Many US tourists go to Mexico to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, and the Mexicans here might just be emulating behavior they saw our young college kids doing in their country! Of course, Mexican authorities need generous bribes to act as lenient as our justice system!
OK, I'm half kidding...
Immigration law: an overview
Federal immigration law determines whether a person is an alien, and associated legal rights, duties, and obligations of aliens in the United States. It also provides means by which certain aliens can become naturalized citizens with full rights of citizenship. Immigration law serves as a gatekeeper for the nation's border: it determines who may enter, how long they may stay and when they must leave.
The United States has a long history of immigration laws. The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 (INA) (http://uscis.gov/lpBin/lpext.dll/inserts/slb/slb-1/slb-22?f=templates&fn=document-frame.htm) with some major, and many minor, changes continues to be the basic immigration law of the country. The most significant ammendment to the INA was in 1965 which abolished the natural origin provisions, and established a new quota system.
For INA purposes, an "alien" is any person who is not a citizen or a national of the United States. There are different categories of aliens: resident and nonresident, immigrant and nonimmigrant, documented and undocumented ("illegal" ).
States have limited legislative authority regarding immigration, and 28 U.S.C. § 1251 details the full extent of state jurisdiction. Generally, 28 U.S.C. § 994 details the federal sentencing guidelines for illegal entry into the country.
Congress has total and complete authority over immigration. Power of the President is limited to policies on refugees. Unless the issue concerns the rights of aliens to constitutional protections the courts have rarely intruded.
The need to stem illegal immigration prompted Congress to enact the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) (http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/cor/byagency/doj1255a.htm) of 1986. The IRCA toughened criminal sanctions for employers who hire illegal aliens, denied illegal aliens federally funded welfare benefits, and legitimized some aliens through an amnesty program. The Immigration Marriage Fraud Amendments (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d099:HR03737:|TOM:/bss/d099query.html) of 1986 sought to limit the practice of marrying to obtain citizenship. The Immigration Act (http://www.law.cornell.edu/usc-cgi/get_external.cgi?type=pubL&target=101-649) of 1990 thoroughly revamped the INA making allocation of visas more even among foreign nations, eliminating archaic rules, and increasing the level of worldwide immigration.
The goals in immigration policies are achieved by granting or denying visas. There are two types of visas: immigrant and nonimmigrant. Nonimmigrant visas are primarily issued to tourists and temporary business visitors. Nonimmigrant visas are divided into eighteen main categories, and the number of visas in most categories are not limited. Only a few categories of non-immigrant visas allow their holders work in the United States. Immigrant visas permit their holders to stay in the United States permanently and ultimately to apply for citizenship. An alien who has an immigrant visa is permitted to work in the United States. Congress limits the overall number of immigrant visas, which was 675,000 in 1995. Many immigrant visas are also subject to per-country caps.

Oklahoma governor signs sweeping immigration reform bill
By TIM TALLEY
Associated Press
Complete coverage of immigration issues OKLAHOMA CITY — Gov. Brad Henry signed an immigration bill Tuesday that tightens employment standards to prevent illegal immigrants from finding work.
Henry called the legislation, passed overwhelmingly by the House and Senate, a stopgap measure to deal with an illegal immigration problem that is the responsibility of the federal government.
"States can take some actions on their own, but until the U.S. Congress enacts a comprehensive, national immigration policy, citizens will see little progress on this issue," he said.
The measure requires state and local agencies to verify the citizenship and immigration status of applicants for state or local benefits.
It also requires public agencies starting Nov. 1 to use a program to screen Social Security numbers to make sure they are real and match up with the job applicant's name. Private companies must comply by July 1, 2008.
The measure would not affect emergency medical and humanitarian services, such as visits to hospital emergency rooms and enrollment in public schools, that are required by federal law.
More than 100,000 illegal immigrants are estimated to live in Oklahoma.
Immigrant groups said the measure is was a vain attempt to stop illegal immigration and can lead to discriminatory barriers to housing and jobs.
The groups are considering a challenge to the new law's constitutionality, saying that immigration policy is the domain of the federal government, not the state.
"It's going to take us back," said Ray Madrid, state director of the League of United Latin American Citizens. "I'm sure there's going to be neighbors turning neighbors in."
This is taking place all across America. Atrrician through enforcement equals self deportation.
Second, please share with me, my anti-American ideas. If being against racism is anti-American in you eyes, I shudder at the ideas you are instilling in your children. Racism is not inherited it is learned and passed on from one generation to the next.
Third, I call them as I see them.
Refer to post #20 of this thread. Juan doesn't come right out and say it, but he sure does imply it.
ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS NOT A VICTIMLESS CRIME
Apologists for illegal immigration like to paint it as a victimless crime. But in fact, illegal immigration causes substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population--the poor, minorities, and children.
Illegal immigration causes an enormous drain on public funds. The seminal study of the costs of immigration by the National Academy of Sciences found that the taxes paid by immigrants do not cover the cost of services received by them. We cannot provide high quality education, health care, and retirement security for our own people if we continue to bring in endless numbers of poor, unskilled immigrants.
Additionally, job competition by waves of illegal immigrants willing to work at substandard wages and working conditions depresses the wages of American workers, hitting hardest at minority workers and those without high school degrees.
Illegal immigration also contributes to the dramatic population growth overwhelming communities across America--crowding school classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, and straining precious natural resources like water, energy, and forestland
If you really agree with Bob, it's high time for you to prove it. And don't make me go back and paste your comments, some even posted today, where you say otherwise.
