A reminder about the way Americans used to live and think, as opposed to how we still live today, The American Dream asks the question, how different are we, really, than we were fifty or sixty years ago? The American Dream questions what the American dream is, exactly, and if it's still alive in the United States now, today.
Meet John and Mary, as they rise from bed, wondering what exactly is missing in their lives. They know they work hard and do everything they are supposed to do, but for some reason, they don't seem to have the happiness they just know is missing.
Frustrated, they cannot even seem to name this "thing," they believe would cure whatever has them feeling the way they feel. It appears this void in their lives, has created a chasm in their bed as well; John and Mary sleep in twin beds.
But our story gets interrupted for a breaking news story from Europe, and suddenly we've lost our way--- is this still The American Dream, or some lurid nightmare? Will The American Dream ever be found, or even worse, did it ever really exist, or was it just a figment of our collective imaginations?
The American Dream breaks new ground, and alters the cinematic landscape forever. You'll know this is true, because we tell you in the opening minutes.
Quite simply, The American Dream is a masterpiece and if you do not take the time to watch it, you will never know what it's like to truly question your soul, and wonder, deep down inside, if you've ever really taken a hard look at yourself, ever really evaluated your life, and come to realize exactly what your American Dream is.
The darkest of dark humor, jJack Midknight has crafted a work for the ages, and presents a vision that compels us to both look backward, and look at how we live today.
jJack uses the resources of Creative Commons Public Domain footage to create a brand new work of art from existing film from the past, bringing it alive in a completely different way, and for completely different reasons than those for which the original works were created.
Although jJack hasn't yet inserted himself into one of his derivative works, ala Steve Martin in the movie Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, we're all certain one of these days, being the natural ham, and Alfred Hitchcock wanna be, we know jJack to be....
Well it's only a matter of time, eh folks?

Clearly, we were "victory" oriented. Too bad the democrats forgot that. Liberals have been fighting everything you've shown in the video.... so vote Republican? Yes.
The nostalgia is of course, part and parcel of the delivery, using Creative Commons Public Domain material, it is by definition "dated." However, only the "visual" portion is dated, yes?
Do you see a parallel to the present tense, or not? Is there a message to be learned about the word "victory?" I don't know really, as I leave that completely up to the viewer.
These things were going through my head when I created this piece of work.
