First off let me start off by saying as someone who enjoys writing I don't take the creation of new words lightly.....I find these hyphenated ones even more galling. It seems to me, the lazy man approach to new word creation. ( I can't think of a new word, I'll just shorten two old ones and stick a hypen in the middle...)
Second off, what really torques me off even more than these made up words is quickly the pathetically uninformed begin using it, then misusing it and ultimately abusing it to the point where the word has no legitimate meaning anymore and everyone has their own definition of what it means......... Am I missing something here??? Isn't a word supposed to have a specific definition? If not, then exactly what is the difference between a word and a random collection of letters haphazardly tossed together??
Which leads me to todays topic that really is starting to bug me. If I hear one more person refer to George Bush as a Neo-Con, I think I just may.......... well probably nothing , but just knock it off will ya????
A Neo-Con is by definition an ultra conservative, hard right winger on all matters political.
Bush is a left leaning Republican. Pat Buchanan is a neo con, in fact I think he may have coined the term, or it may have been coined to describe his politics. Bush in all his years in office has never used his veto. Spending has gone up at a rate that would make the hardest lefties blush. Our borders are porous and he supports amnesty for the criminals who have already snuck in illegally, he went into Iraq softly ( to win the hearts and minds of the muslim world...how neo-con is that??),
As far as I'm concerned if it saves one American soldier's life, than I don't care if they have to cut out the hearts and minds (if in fact there is a working one behind this terrorism) of the muslim world. I don't give a rat's ass about their feelings about us. Did I miss a lesson in class somewhere?? Isn't the whole concept of war, a last resort when two or more sides can not resolve a dispute peacefully. Call me dopey but once you get to the point of killing each other, I kinda think that only killing 20,000 instead of 50,000 doesn't win you a whole lotta points from the killed side of that ledger. Likewise, when dealing with a group that hides inside a mosque and attacks from there. Is there anyone who really believes because we don't drop a laser guided bomb down through the minaret of that place, and instead let them snipe at our soldiers one pot shot at a time, is there anyone who believes that somewhere over in Syria some family is sitting in their mud hut, eating camel turdloaf sandwiches and watching CNN and thinking "you know the Americans are A-OK for not attacking that mosque?" I mean, seriously???
Somehow I got off on a rant here and got sidetracked. The only people who think of Bush as a neo con are "neo-libs".........
Hey, can I get trademark rights for that word??????
Nuff Said

I'm sick to death of hearing liberals whine about the war. Wars aren't like driving a straight line; the path changes constantly. The Middle East islamofaciscts (sorry, Chris) were like a cancer that was ignored too long, but we finally confronted it. It might spread before we cut it all out, but if we don't keep hacking away at it, sooner or later it will kill us.
In much the same way that I would describe Joe Lieberman as right leaning Dem. The thrust of my point was that I don't think a "true" neo conservative is very happy with Bush either. He is certainly a damn site further left than Reagan, and probably his father as well.
I know I'm not very happy with Bush on the issues you've mentioned, Chris. But it just burns me up when the lefties bash him for everything under the sun. It's nothing but pure hatred coming from them. I think it affects their critical thinking capabilities.
And you're right, Vickey's a pretty informed person.
(sound familiar). The old Dem-libs, wanted to keep Slavery. The new - neo lib dems want to keep terrorism, case closed NEO-DEMS ARE THE NEW CUT& RUN PARTY.
