My Response to Election Fear Mongering
We haven't hit the election season full stride yet and the fear mongering has begun in earnest. What's fear mongering? Spreading unsubstantiated rumors that Obama's a Muslim even though he's a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and considering someone to be unpatriotic because they choose to or not to wear a US flag lapel pin. Fear Mongering is believing that a Mormon President would replace the Bible with the Book of Mormon.
The Politics of fear is alive and well in America and on Gather too; so I'm posting the cover of Carter G. Woodson 1933 classic book (copy right has expired, photo is public domain) "The Mis-education of the Negro." In Woodson's classic book he stated that if the powers to be in a society could condition a people mentally by fear, ignorance and into self defeating behavior; that the power to be could control an entire population with out force or prisons because they would voluntarily comply with that power to be in the society. This living in the prison of fear can imprison anyone no matter their race, religion or ethnicity and we are seeing the politics of fear to control the masses more and more.

By the way I read this book as an 8th grader, I highly recommend it to all.
Let me know your thoughts.

I will have to check out the book it looks interesting.
Lydon that's exactly what it is propaganda and people are getting laxed at challenging information sources because something is posted on an internet site somewhere too many people are taking it as Gospel. One day if this continues we are going to look out our window and see soldiers goose step down our block.
Whether or not John Kennedy was a good president had nothing whatsoever to do with his religion.
It's not progress in my book.
Feel Better Lets Have a Plan of Action
I agree with Sharon, it's all just to stupid.
There isn't any thing we can do unless we ALL start voting,
and then I have to wonder if my vote even really counts or if that's rigged somehow.
Speaking of voting my step father was a good man and he won the Bronze Star in the Pacific in WWII and couldn't vote because of the color of his skin. I vote every election. I feel that it's a duty.
When we are gone, they shall still be here having to clean up what we left them if we do not make the right decisions now.
Anyway, they have taken over my Yahoo! email with their passion for Senator Obama. I think I shall probably just open up another account, that's what. I've never seen anything like it. They too -- these young people -- are loaded with information, but I just cannot rummage through it all. I mean the emails are at/over 6,000
I have never not voted in an election since I turned 18.
I just wanted to say I am finally going through what is now under 7,100 pieces of gather new mail that is in my inbox on here.
