step mom - drabble challenge -100 words story

"Mom do you love me? "Little Sara asked Riya with tears in her eyes.

Riya looked at her perplexed, "yes little angel, mama loves you .why this question?"

"Simran told me that I am not your real daughter, so you don't love me "Sara said sobbing.

Riya took Sara in her lap and put her heart against her breast for a minute ,then looked deep in Sara's eyes and assured her "you didn't take birth from my womb , rather you are born out of my heart ...so you are loved the most "

Sara hugged her tight and smiled.

Amy ... we are always prejudiced against things and step realtions are also a victim of this ... I am glad that you identify with this story ..

Phoenix : thanks dear ...I wrote this one in less than 5 minutes ..

I have heard it in a talk show when sushmita sen said similar words to her adopted daughter ...it touched me deeply .

I have few relatives that are adopted and revelations are often hard for kids , it takes them some time to get along with the truth and it takes lots of effort on the part of parents to handle the issue ..

Dear Amar..tha's the talent to say everything in few words..though it's difficult for me to wind up the story so efficiently...This is indeed a sentimental topic ..Few days back I came up with a plot of a step mom and her baby....

This is very nice ...SWEET AND CRISP..

I remember when I was first pregnant, thinking it was the greatest thing in the world, and how sorry I felt for anyone who couldn't carry children of their own. Then I came home from hospital with this tiny helpless bundle and realized he was a real human being, dependant on me. Then I suddenly realized, what's nine months compared to a lifetime.

Amarpreet, hats off to you. Drabble is a test of writimg skills. To tell a story with a beginning, middle and an end in 100 words requires immense talent and having tried to do it I know what it takes...so hats off to you for a great success. How did you do it...and so beautifully too....

What a beautiful story that makes one realise what love is all about.
Amar...this is very deep. A wrong word from the stepmother could've upset Sara for all of her life.
You have a fabulous writing skill. You wrote this in a way that made me feet that I had read a long story. I think it's because you made a hundred images flash through my mind.

Now that's writing. Yesss.!!! Bravo dear.

Well done. It's also hard when a child asks if you wished you were not a mother--which was true at the time...I told her she was the best child that I could have had, but that sometimes I did not want to be a mother. Honest, hopefully reassuring....that it was not about her...she still lives with me some 20 years later....
