My daughter wrote a poem I just love...and what makes it even more special is her world of kids, job and taking the time to write - which I am sure many of you talented folks understand...just thought I would share...
Feature LengthI'm late
because
I stopped to
write a poem
because
last night
sleep
was tiring
dreams
fidgety, a
day's worth
of stories
personal
film noir;
edgy and
precise
grainy and ugly
in the mirror
this morning
I've had too
much of me
I'm late
because
I stopped
to write a poem
because
sometimes
its the only
thing to do

"dreams fidgety, a day's worth of stories." It's amazing what children experience in the waking hours. And at night, the stories that they've experienced, quarrels that they've solved or have remain unsolved in their little world tend to be unfolded again, sometimes as nightmares. Isn't it a delight to see your child smiling in his or her sleep and chuckling with laughter at times?
I wish more kids would write poetry or stories or discover poetry rather than trying to knock down fantasy figures, shipy, jets, spaceships in their game-boys, computersand laptops. I was with a group of German children in a mediotheke, where they were allowed to try out pre-installed software, but before we started I asked them to write down their names, addresses, hobbies. They were good at going up, down and sideways with the cursor (arrows) but they couldn't find the alphabets to spell their names. All play does make Hans a dumb boy, I thought.
I'm so glad and relieved that your daughter writes poems. Motivate her, encourage her and give her all the love she deserves. I wish you a wonderful mother-daughter relationship full of respect and love for each other. In diesem Sinne,
bye.
