Working alone

I love working alone, well I should say I loved working alone. I really enjoyed the solitude and the lack of employee gossip and I can't stand water cooler nonesense about celebrities, until today. I could really use the imput of a co-worker for a last minute print advertisement I am creating for next week's paper!

Oh well..

I wrote that last week.. I posted the ad here in the article for you to look at. I submitted it and it was published.

I finally got some gratification, someone called asking about the show. I actually got a response. I think I did something right!

Kathleen- I get really annoyed at talk about entertainment in general. It is a real test of my patience, luckily I am not completely alone. I get to interact with my customers when they come in.

One major benefit of working alone, at least in the home office, anyway, is that one does not have to dress for the office. Or anywhere else for that matter.

I too understand your meaning. There is a great difference between solitude and loneliness. In my case, if the work has a creative aspect, alone is fine. However, when it is run of the mill type stuff, my motivation is boosted with someone around

I agree with everything you said. I'm glad you had the confidence to go ahead and publish any way. Some things are missed without the interaction of others but also allows for more private thinking.

I am a hermit so enjoy solitude immensely. I do work 2 or 3 days per week (per diem) and find the connection with other people to be enjoyable. Otherwise I get too much into my own head. Congrats on doing a good job with your print ad.

There's something about being required to take the risk that makes an effort bigger, deeper. And then it works!
I'm two years into working alone, after one brief earlier stint, and Gather helps, as long as I don't stay too long at this watercooler...

One of the greatest things about being quasi-retired is that you can work alone and do your own thing without pleasing anyone but yourself.
