i am not one to send useless forwards most of the time. here i do for points but not on normal emails. this is a legitimate petition that is just about full, it's at about 850 and when it hits 1,000 it's to be forwarded to the prsident or his office. i signed that one(actual they are doing typed names for example it would look like this
1. Gregory Wallis II Collingdale, PA
each person would add their name and what number they are at the bottom and then forward the email.
this is the format and at 1,000 it gets sent here President@WhiteHouse.gov
by the 1,000th person.
i will not sign this one b/c i did the other one and don't want this to be comprimised at least by me. i think this subject is important and it starts with a brief story to get a point accross. i will soon send it out here on groups and email but if you agree with it would you please send it out.
thank you,
greg
Subject: FW: SS Benefits
Mom was a homemaker and Dad worked all his life and paid into SS. Dad has
passed away and now Mom can barely make ends meet. She goes for the
generic brands, and day old breads. She considers having a pizza delivered
once a week 'eating out'.
She doesn't have out of state calling on her phone, because she can't afford
it and shops at the thrift shops and dollar stores.
She grew up during the depression, watched her husband go overseas to fight
in WW II a year after their marriage, and then they went on to raise, feed
and clothe 5 children, struggling to pay tuition for parochial schools.
Subject: Social Security Benefits :
The Senate voted this week to allow 'i llegal' aliens access to Social
Security benefits. I'm sorry, but how can the Senate justify this slap in
the face to born and bred, or naturalized citizens.
It is already impossible to live on Social Security alone. If they give
benefits to 'illegal' aliens who have never contributed, where does that
leave those of us whom have paid into Social Security all our working lives?
Attached is an opportunity to sign a petition that requires citizenship for
eligibility to receive Social Services. If you do not wish to sign the
petition yourself, please forward on to anyone you think might be
interested.
PETITION FOR: PRESIDENT BUSH :
Mr. President:
The petition below is a protest against the recent vote of the senate
which was to allow illegal aliens access to our social security! We demand
that you and all congressional representatives require citizenship for
anyone to be eligible for social services in the United States :

This is all misinformation designed to create anti-immigrant hysteria. And the email itself is old news.
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/internet.asp
Do look at the Snopes information about email petitions. It specifically mentiones this one. The email address being used is just a dumping ground for any and all crackpot messages to the Whitehouse.
We can get better response by writing our own Congressman.
i have recieved emails from some saying that this is just a chain letter and that if you were to send it to that email it would not work.
i took the one that i had with about 850 names and sent it. i instantly rec. a message from the white house saying that they would look at it but they can not respond to all mail that they get.
please do this.
also we should all send this to local and state represenatives.
greg
if you still wish not to do it please do it as an email or print as a letter for a local/state rep.
Thanks.
I featured this article at www.letitout.gather.com.
Thanks Gregory w.
On one side, there have definitely been illegal immigrants who have fake Social Security cards and numbers and who pay Social Security payments. There are others who do not. The bills in question address issues ranging from Social Security payments (usually trying to come up with some sort of identification card and matching system to see who is an illegal alien and who is not) to health care treatment.
However, I have not seen verification of the particular bill brought up in the original article here. I would not sign or send a petition on any matter without some verification. Is there a link that proves that such a bill is being considered? A senator who is pushing for that bill to be passed? An internet search hasn't yield anything I can find but more details might help. THanks :)
Then, in May 2007 the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007 was proposed, but agreement was never reached last summer, remember all the controversy? The entire thing was shot down.
The story used to illustrate the point in the email is completely undocumented as far as I can tell, and likely fabricated.
