Little has gone right for Massachusetts Govern-elect Deval Patrick since he took office, and after rubber-stamping a clearly inadequate FEIR submitted by Cape Wind Associates, it looks as though things will not be getting much better for the Patrick Administration in the future. It appears that Patrick, and his Secretary, Ian Bowles, have become so pre-occupied with making “Massachusetts a leader in renewable energy” that they have lost touch reality. I would be surprised if either of them even cracked a page of the 5,000 page report. If they did, they would have seen the glowing inadequacies of the document. From birds, to fishing, to construction, and the eventual decommissioning of the project, there is not a single section that gives our state agencies a complete and thorough report to base permitting on. Thankfully, the real jurisdiction over the project is in the hands of Minerals Management, the US Coast Guard, the FAA, and other agencies still need to release statements.
