Today I received my dogster newsletter. They have an article answering this question.
Can our pets catch the Swine flu, also known as H1N1 influenza?
The answer appears to be no. DVM Newsmagazine reports that there is no evidence cats or dogs can contract, carry, spread, or suffer illness from H1N1 influenza.
This is such a relief to know. I've been through enough with my furbabies. To have to worry about this too.
FYI~ If you have never been to dogster.com. When you have time you should check them out. They have a lot of great information and pet deals there. They are also known as catster. =)

Not true Saw it on the early show and USA today
The U.S. Department of Agriculture and Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine confirmed that a 13-year-old cat whose owners had experienced flu-like symptoms contracted H1N1 (swine) flu.
"This may be the first instance where we have documentation that transmission occurred involving cats or dogs," CDC spokesman Tom Skinner told the Associated Press.

I lived in a city where strep throat would be all over town. It would stop then start again. They did a study only to learn that pets would have it but show none of the symptoms. So if someone in the family ws strep it was likely the family dog or cat also had it. This helped control the strep infection.
