I was going to continue posting photos I took during my last camping trip. But then as I walk out on the deck this morning I see two things.
I just am in awe of the things animals build. They build things like there homes with very few natural items. In fact some make their own building supplies.
Like the spiders web, this web showed up nicely as the morning sun hit it.

I wondered if a bird had gotten this spider. The web seems empty even when I lightly touched it. Just this hole with debris around it.

As I first stepped out the back door and looked up I saw this nest.

I can't help but admire the way these insects build their nest with the uniform honeycomb openings. Out of paper they make no less.

In this shot you even get a great view of a larva. It's right next to the wasp butt.

The nests *are* amazing. They really are. I prefer them empty of wasps, but they're really a marvel of engineering, as you say.
LOVE your web photos.
I knew you'd like that "wasp butt"
