This morning we all got into a heated argument at work. There was name calling, kicking and punching, and chairs were thrown across the room. OK, maybe it didn't go that far, but there is now an imaginary line drawn across the office. On one side are crazy cat people, and on the other side awesome dog people. (Those who didn't want to take a side chose to work at the Starbucks down the street.)
I love dogs. I owned the same one from grade school through grad school and considered her one of my best friends. Dogs are loyal, intelligent, caring, and protective. They have bigger hearts than some humans. Just last night I watched an online news video of a German Shepherd who saved his wheelchair bound neighbor from his burning home.
My impression of cats isn't so positive. Sure, there are some sweet cats out there, but I'll let you in on a secret: cats love you so much because you feed them. In general, cats are more selfish than dogs are. Buy a Garfield comic book. That can be your handbook on all you need to know about cats. (Ignore everything you read about Odie though.)
Which animal do you prefer?

Now, it you mean which do I relate to... I'm a cat. I think I was a cat in a past life, or will be one in the next.
I love both and have both.
Since childhood, I've always been a cat person. There's a "psychic" connection there, and you have to be a lot like them to appreciate them. They're not as uppity as some think they are. Cats truly love those who love them. You know a cat loves you when you (as a little girl) can dress them in doll clothes and play house, and they tolerate it no matter how much they hate it. I've had some awesome cats.
Dogs are great too! They're in tune to our emotions, physical changes, and are loyal pets. They will protect you.
You mention your family's cats are great with the exception of the Siamese. I think I've heard as a breed they're not very nice. Is that true?
If you're a dimwit, perhaps. Garfield is an idiot and represents cats about as much as Goofy does dogs.
I find this article biased and offensive.
