I drove 10 minutes south at about 9:30 a.m. this morning to take some photos at Huntington Beach State Park.
I should have charged my battery before going, but I thought it would have enough juice to make it through another day of photos. It didn't and died on me. Here are some shots I was able to get before I had to come home to recharge.
I'll probably head back in a few hours. So glad I have my state park pass now. Makes it not a big deal to go to this area multiple times in a day.
I also just ordered a backup generic lithium battery so I can avoid this problem in the future.

I decided over the weekend that I need to buy an extra battery for my camera so that I don't have to go without while it is charging, and so if it is low I don't have to worry about it going dead on me while out somewhere. I am also going to get myself an extra memory card, because a couple weekends ago when I was up at Mackinac Island for my SIL wedding my 2gb card wasn't enough and I ran out of room on it for picture taking. I can get around 500 to up to 600photos on that card.
I have 2 2-Gg cards and the spare is always with the camera. The battery on a full charge will last no matter how many photos I shoot. But it's not good for lithums to keep being charged up when they are not fully discharged. Sooooo, a second one was a necessary purchase.
yeah, that is why I need another battery, because even if there isn't much charge left, I don't like to charge it untill it is dead, because I don't want it to affect the life of the battery. So as soon as I have a little bit of extra $ I plan on purchasing one.
That crab picture is my favorite, very cool.
That was one thing I did right away when I got my camera last year...I bought an extra camera battery. Since they re-charge....it makes it worth it.
Great sightings, I know what you mean about the pass. Every time I go to Huntington I find something new and exciting. I'm addicted to this place.

I enjoy looking at the pics from this park. I would have loved to stop in SC on our way home from FL, that was our original plan but since we got stuck in so many traffic jams in GA we did not get to. I was really disappointed.

I use lithiums, they usually last for two outings, I go nuts with pics. I do take an extra set of batteries with me. But even then things happen, I really need another 2 GB card.
