The beautiful birds of the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler, TX. I think I did this the last time I visited the zoo - took tons of pictures of all the different parrots, toucan, cockateils, etc. They are just so photogenic!

a green beauty

The Flamingo's were very upset - see the ruffled feathers? There was a zoo worker in there, digging up dirt & moving it just slightly. Not sure why - maybe it was too hard packed?

Peek-a-boo

Coyly looking over her shoulder~

This bird is my favorite. I gave him the green branch & he just kind of tore it up with his mouth. I wonder if they get very bored....

another picture of my favorite bird at the Caldwell Zoo.

ok, last one of this guy~

Pelicans

Beautiful American Bald Eagles

This Vulture was teethered to a post on the left. I was thinking he was going to be part of a bird show.

We went into WildBird WalkAbout & saw these next beautiful birds. Including the one above.

They sold these seed sticks (bird seed on honey I think), that we could buy & feed the birds. Once we bought one we made lots of friends!

Isn't she/he pretty?

A sunny beauty~

The big yellow bird is Lemon (above pic & below pic). My Husband worked hard to get Lemon to eat off of his seed stick & he was rewarded with lemon sitting on his hand. The bird keepers were amazed & said that Lemon never did that - so we felt special!

This bird was only to be handled by the handlers. She/He is so pretty though!

The Toucan had glass in the front of his enclosure. I wonder if they are apt to bite easily?

A lovely pair~ I know many birds mate for life. I hope these two are happy together.

A final stunning pair, maybe mates.
I have other zoo pictures that I will post in another essay, but the birds needed their own!
I am looking forward to visiting the 2 wonderful Minnesota zoos that are somewhat close to where we will be living up there. I can't wait to take pictures there too!
