Tuck went a-courtin', and he did run, Uh-huh,
Tuck went a-courtin', and he did run, Uh-huh,
Tuck went a-courtin', and he did run.
With a sword and a pistol by his side, Uh-huh.

Well he ran up to Miss Froggy's ditch, Uh-huh,
Well he ran up to Miss Froggy's ditch, Uh-huh,
Well he ran up to Miss Froggy's ditch.
Gave three loud barks at a very low pitch, Uh-huh.

"Miss Froggy, where are you?" Uh-huh,
"Miss Froggy, where are you?" Uh huh,
"Miss Froggy, where are you? I've come
to woo you, yes I have, uh-huh.

"Don't play coy, I ask of you, Uh-huh,
"Don't play coy, I ask of you, Uh-huh,
"Don't play coy and show yourself and
we can have loads of fun, Uh-huh."

"Please croak to me, I beg of you, Uh-huh,
"Please croak to me, I beg of you, Uh-huh
"Please croak to me, I beg of you, and a
love of a lifetime we can pursue, Uh-huh.

Back and forth, Tuck does tread, uh-huh,
Back and forth, Tuck does tread, uh-huh,
Back and forth, Tuck does tread, but

Froggy sits in her house with dread, uh-huh.
"Who ever heard of a dog with a frog, uh-huh?"
"Who ever heard of a dog with a frog, uh-huh?"
"Who ever heard of a dog with a frog finding

sweet love in a ditch in a bog, uh-huh?
"No love have I for you I have, uh-huh",
"No love have I for you I have, uh-huh",
"No love have I for you I have, a frog
and a dog just doesn't jive, uh-huh."
And so rejected, most dejected, the
dog in the bog went home, uh-huh.
The dog in the bog went home, uh-huh
Where he found Miss Sophia waiting there, uh-huh.
"Poor little Tuck, don't feel bad, uh-huh,
Poor Little Tuck, don't feel bad, uh-huh,
Poor little Tuck, don't feel bad, that little
Mistress Frog would just make you sad, uh-huh, uh-huh!

This is an adaptation of the folk song by Pete Seeger, "Froggy Went a Courtin'"for Dan Tompkins Fur Chapters Contest.

Keeping you & your mom in my thoughts... hoping all goes well
dropping by to leave you a 10,
HAPPY 4TH
Love the photos too.
Sophia does give the looks, doesn't she. She just can't understand how happy and content Tuck always is. Sometimes she gives him "the look"....like "what on earth are you thinking, Tuck?"
As for Mom...I was up at Quincy Hospital from around 9:30 till 12:30. She's in the Psychic locked-down ward where over the next 10 days they will adjust the meds in order to make her more compliant with doing physical therapy. My visit today was more then a story in its self.
I took these pictures yesterday of Tuck froggin'...didn't know what I was going to do with them till I saw email from Dan and then this morning, very early it came to me. Knew I was going to be visiting and spending time in a psych ward...so I needed a little diversion....something to take my mind off where I was going.
Mom was in a great mood the whole three hours I was with her...so that was good.
Great pictures.
sorry your mom is having issues. Sending good thoughts your way.

Frogging is one of Tuck's favorite activity...he loves watching them hop up and down in the bogs. Tuck is extremely slow in his response when they move...but he doesn't give up.
Love this folk song by Pete Seeger and thought it would make a good adaptation.
That last picture with Tuck and Sophia wasn't hard to get because when Sophia sees Tuck by the door she comes running knowing a walk is on the schedule. Sophie loves going on Tuck's walks on the bogs. I think Sophie thinks that she is a dog.
Thanks for stopping by. This was a good exercise to keep my mind off other matters.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoying this romp with Tuck.
She'll be in my prayers.
Janet
Mom is at Quincy Hospital right now...I spent the morning with her. Today, unlike yesterday, was not a good day for her. Perhaps tomorrow will be better.
Hey Alison...a hybrid, huh?
Sorry to read that things aren't well with your mom - here's to better days.
Very creative tale!
U wishing you more of the same
Aaron, just knew you would enjoy my fur creatures.
The frog said NO...what more can I say?
In kindergarten, at circle time we always do adaptations of songs...great for teaching the pre-reading skill of rhyming and so the other day, looking at the images of Tuck froggin', Pete Seeger's lyrics came to mind...with some adaptation, it worked.
Mom had a good day both yesterday and today. I am happy...I think they are getting her meds straightened out.
Congrats on your win! :)
I knew others would see the greatness that is in the Big-Yellow-Dog that is you :)
Time to Celebrate...Have some fun, bark and dance......HECK....You can even have some cat food if you would like!
I love you Tucker :)
the Dog going to court that Frog!! Loved the song and pics!!
Thanks Laura and Chrissy.
Images #1 #8, #9 and #10 were NOT taken the day before I wrote this. All of them are in former photo-essays.
Images #2, #3, #4, #5, #6 and #7 were taken the day before.
What is your problem, girl. I noticed the other day you put a comment on #8 and thought I would just ignore it because I thought you were having a bad day. Obviously you submitted an entry and it didn't place and so you are angry. Feel free to contact Dan if you think my entry was not legit. I have no problem with that. In fact, I will send him a copy of my comment to you. My integrity is worth more then a Colby MP3.
Congratulations, my beautiful friend... :o)
Hi there,
Angela wrote to me, and I investigated the incident. I wrote back to her.
I did say in the rules that no prior photos posted is to be used for the photo contest part. I did not mention that for the essay part because I didn't want to disqualify someone for using a picture or two from the past in a essay with a dozen or more photos. I told her the main focus on the essay part was the use of photos and use of words to create some kind of storyline. The key was use of imagination. That is why I also said in the essay part it can not be a photo essay on a trip to the zoo. Zoo pictures can be used, but I did not want the essay to be part of a essay on a family outing to the zoo. My decision stands and you are one of the winners. If you want to share this e-mail with others regarding my decision, that is fine.
Bear hugs,
Dan
Yes, Tuck done up in a mistral motley would certainly be cute! But I'm sure he would run away if I did THAT to him. I think sometimes, jean, we share the same reality....where animals talk and moonbeams delight.
