This morning we arose early and headed south to Bourne to feed and water a friend's kitties...all eight of them. Actually one of them she received from us four years ago when our Holly Go Lightly birthed five. We gave three away and kept Ophelia and Othello...Wendy took the small gray one and named it Merlin.

Merlin is one big, fat kitty!
Papa and I couldn't believe the size of Merlin....
Twenty-six pounds is a heck of a lot of kitty.
After feeding all the kitties and changing their litter boxes, we headed over to the Ellisville Conservation Land Trust for a stroll...we had been here two days ago and just thought the place was magical.
As we went through the portal, the sea was in the distance....beach roses surrounded us.

Today my cousin Terry and his partner Gino accompanied us to the Land Trust. Once out on the beach, we saw a structure rising from the grassy area...immediately we knew that it was an osprey nest...but as we drew closer, we could tell that it was quite damaged....perhaps during hurricane season last year. I kidded Papa that it reminded me of us...."an empty nest, that's what it is!"
His reply...."Yes, this is the time to do it...abandon the house, buy an old volkswagon bus, and get on the road....we won't leave a forwarding address! The kids will never find us!" All four of us just started laughing.
We continued walking the beach for at least a mile when Terry spotted something off in the distance....

As we drew closer, I said to the guys..."It's a staircase....an old abandoned staircase...let's go up and see what 's up there".
"No, Bob, it's really rickety....it's not safe........no, Bob............"

"Look guys...it's a stairway to heaven...whose game? I know I'm going up and checkin' it out......"
Terry is the only one that joins me....

We climb....and we climb...it's missing a few rungs...bit we don't mind... nivana is close at hand.....
we climb....
and climb......."maybe we should of brought our rosaries, Terry!", I say.
and climb....until we see

our kind of Heaven!
Actually, the Lobster Pound is not anywhere near the Conservation area. It is in Manomet, near White Horse Beach......but I thought it would be fun to put it up the top of the stairway....

I had many more pictures of the staircase to heaven...but didn't want to bore you guys!
I imagine they wouldn't Marge but actually the Lobster Pound is probably 4 or 5 miles up the road from the Conservation area. You can buy fresh fish to take home or have a treat there...no dinners...but lobster or crab roll, etc.
Darcey D
thanks Cheryl for venturing up the staircase with me....lobster tails for you!
Darcey, Merlin is huge...I almost posted pictures of Othello and Ophelia to show the difference in siblings. Then of course I have sweet Sophia, who is Merlin's niece...same color and texture of hair...but quite petite.
The stairs lead to an old dirt road....nothing really exciting...from the depris at the foot of the stairs, it looks like a good size dock once was there and I was reading at the Conservation Trust that Ellisville in its heyday had quite a harbour....and I'm wondering if this is not part of the working early 1900's harbour.
I'm bringing my friend, Merlin.
thank you for sharing
Marinela....found your beautiful article this morning and the ideas within will certainly give me much to think about today. Peace my dear friend for sending me kind energy to light my way.
Sue, it's always nice to see your icon on my page.
I just can't believe it Tonia...you were in the Lobster Pound parking lot....were you at Whitehorse or Priscilla Beach that day?
Merlin is one HUGE cat!
Loved taking the walk along with you. I didn't notice any ants though.
Merlin is a heavy-weight! No ants...Merlin fries them in butter and eats them for a snack.
How nice to live so close to the sea. I am always drawn to it. Most vacations of mine are spent close to one ocean or another or a Great Lake which I deem a worthy substitute. There's something about the sea..........
I don't know how you can live without a beach nearby....the years I lived in Alaska and the tem months in southern Illinois in Carbondale convinced me I had to have the ocean nearby.
