Why do we throw the first stone when it comes to people being cruel to animals?
Everyone is cruel to some extent. Now do not get me wrong, I do not think it is right for someone to beat their animal or not take care of it, but that is not what I speak of, what speak of is this: Most people will take a dull blade or shoot at a wild animal that comes to call. I do not know if you think about it but these wild beasts are the wild family of our own pets. It is fact, that those people who are cruel to theirs or someone else's pet everyone punishes them for it. But have you ever thought about the wild animals that we remove the head of or shoot at (and not always do we remove the head of it on the first try, and when we shoot we sometimes hit places other than the head or heart.) Do you ever think about what happens when those animals run off or suffers because the blade is dull?
Well I have.
They don't come back, but after they run off and have been shoot, they suffer worse than our pets I say this because yes our pets are very badly hurt but they have us to take them to the vet if need be, but the wild ones do not have that. Those whose heads are partially severed, if that blade is dull they have to endure it over and over until their heads are completely severed, or they die from blood loss.
I am not saying that if a wild animal comes and tries' to hurt your family that you should sit back and let it do so. But was it not Jesus who said, "He who is without sin throw the stone. I myself will protect my family from a predictor who comes to call but I will not hurt an animal unnecessarily. I am also not against hunting if you use it for food. This is just random killing of animals that can cause slow death.
We had a snake around the other day and could have hurt one of my family, but I did not kill it instead I ran it off out of our yard. Please, next time, think about it before you go and use a blade or a shot to get rid of a wild animal!
Sincerely, Amanda AKA Dark Tigress 430

Here in Michigan, deer herds are way out of control. The deer are starving to death and the herds need to be "culled". This is considered merciful. Is death by starvation better than dying by gunshot or arrow? God gave man dominion over animals. Animals have no souls and are here to provide food products for us. I do think slaughter should be done humanely.
Neighbors get angry at pets who are destructive or noisy, but this behavior is the fault of the pet owner, not the animal.
there i draw the line
I agree that it is wrong to not hunt. Man was put over humans, but that means we are supposed to take care of them also. If we don't hunt, it throws off the balance of things.
I don't like skeeters either, or ROACHES ew!!!!!
Lovely article Amanda. :)
Having said that, I won't kill a wild animal if it poses no threat. Usually wild animals want little to do with humans. If it a benign being, like a big old turtle, I'll snap a pic or two.
Oh Esther, I can't hardly watch those shows. They break my heart.
