California will no longer exist on the Russian map. Accoding to the Tass News Agency, the village of California has been removed due to lack of inhabitants.
The village was established by a Russain landowner in th 19th century in protest of the government selling Alaska to the United States in 1867.
Since the collaspe of the Soviet Union, the inhabitants have all moved seeking a better living elswhere. The last residents left in 2000.
The village officially ceased to exist as a geographical unit, but is uncertain what will happen to the remaining buildings, including a school.
So I guess we don't have to wait for it to fall into the sea, the Russians have already done away with it.
