She has been throwing up a lot, not hair balls but her food.
I don't know if it was stress related because of the tornado warning last Monday and she had to be in her carrier (she totally freaks out about the carrier, hates it profusely and profoundly) or if she has eaten one of the plant leaves. If it was the plant leaf maybe I need to get rid of the one she is fascinated with. She only bothers the one.
I finally called the vet yesterday and they said to bring her in and then said oh we can't see her until tomorrow. I was not happy with that. I asked if I could do anything for her and they suggested taking all food away for 10-12 hours and then offering beef broth with rice in it.
Well, I took the food away and boy was Tigger mad at me all day! He eats and eats and eats all day while China is a nibbler here and there.
My husband brought some beef broth home and I gave her some last night and she loved it and lapped it all up. Tigger wouldn't touch it. She snuck a few pieces of Tigger's food and kept it down all night.
This morning I gave her some more broth and after a few minutes let her eat some of her own food.
She has kept it down.
I guess I'm going to go ahead and take her to have her checked out in case something else is going on but I wish I'd never called them. I know they are going to try and force me to use the food that they recommend and make a profit on like every other vet and I will not use it. If you want to know why just ask me and I'll tell you.
I wish I had researched on the internet before calling the vet's office. I usually would have, don't know why I didn't think of it this time. The same advice that worked for Chai is all over the internet.
The advice I liked the most is giving your cat 100% pumpkin puree for diarrhea or constipation. Weird but it works for both.
So, I am wondering if any of you know of any other good cures that work.

My cat eats some of our ornamental grass around the pool area and then she throws it up. It could very well be a plant in your case as well, and if you can just put the plant where she can't get at it, that would be a good starting place.
Baby food is good and bland sometimes too and I've used it... chicken and rice or chicken and noodles are good. When I worked as a vet tech we used to use it to try to coax sick animals to eat, and most of them like it. Of course, it has never worked for MY cats but I've been pretty lucky anyway.
One important thing is that Chai still has an appetite. Usually, when a cat is sick, that's the first thing that goes, so it's a very good sign!
Many plants can be toxic to animals and it is best to keep pets away from foliage and flowers as much as possible. If you know the name of the different plants that you have, I'd suggest looking up their toxicity to animals. Google the plant name and toxicity to felines and you should get an answer. It's best to remove plants such as Easter lillies, pointsettas, etc. because they are very poisonous to pets. Remove (or isolate) those plants that pose a hazard. It's always best to be on the safe side. Please keep us posted as to Chai's progress!
My one cat was leaving occasional presents other places, so I switched to a sensitive stomach formula and it hasn't happened since.
I would love to know what Andrea is feeding her cats. Mr Twisty is so fat, and they say getting rid of grain will help a lot.
Do you feed just dry food or canned and dry? I think canned food is harder on the stomach and if a cat is feeling poorly, just dry food is best. Kinda like a person is sick and they want to eat crackers or toast.
I cook chicken for my cats to make homemade broth. The canned stuff is way too salty and I don't know what else they put in it. Cook the chicken with a bit of salt and skim any fat off the top before giving it to kitty. I like to warm it a bit in the microwave. You can freeze little containers of it for handy use later.
Rocky was really sick one time with diarhea/vomiting and I took him to the vet thinking it was something really bad. All we could figure out was I'd had company on Sunday and my cats are so terrified of other people that they hide under the bed all day, so we figured it was stress induced.
They gave me some pills for his diarrhea. I gave him one pill crushed and mixed with some soft cat food and you'd have thought I'd poisoned him. He ran around the house like a fiend throwing up, slobbering and crying. Beau and I were so upset. It was just awful. I didn't give him any more and he got over the diarrhea on his own. I'll never give him that again. I forgot the name of the pill. If you want I can look it up.
Of course, you know you can always cancel the appointment and find another vet. We won't feed food from the vet. We use Iams, and our cats (and dog, when we had one) are very healthy with it. We are fortunate that our vet is an older person who works because he didn't like retirement. He keeps up on the latest things, but is not into pushing products from his office, and he has a lot of common sense.
I'm so happy the broth thing worked. Maybe it is the plant leaves. Here's a link to a site that lists which plants are dangerous. http://cats.about.com/cs/catmanagement101/a/poisonplants.htm
You would think they wouldn't eat what's harmful, but guess they are just like the rest of us, lol. Good luck!
Try making homemade food for her or at least buying the corn-free cat food.
Be very careful with home remedies for cats (all animals, but especially cats) as their livers can't take much and it could do serious damage.
