Something SIMPLE and COMFORTABLE! A picnic in the park or on the beach.

Lunch or dinner; not too fancy; but out of the ordinary, eg gormet pizza place and a walk in the park if nice out and after a trip to another place that is quiet for dessert and/or coffee. If not nice; skip the park.

I think my perfect date would have to start with a quiet dinner, then a nice loud time at the race track, just to shake things up. And to end it all some quiet time looking at the stars and holding hands.

A great conversation over a great meal (doesn't have to be gourmet or expensive), a horse carriage ride through the city, or maybe a walk along the beach (if I'm not in Atlanta, that is), just a mutual enjoyment of each other's company....and no, no sex!
I think my wife would disapprove but a guy can dream. :) A trip to an art museum followed by a nice dinner.

Flowers--small with lots of happy colors as a greeting when picking her up, met her family if she wishes and talk over selected places of interest as well as taste in food. Lets say it was Jackie and she loves Italian then I would have a reservation made at an Italian restaurant and order fine wine with soft music and candle light, after dinner a short stroll along a lake shore or river---take in a movie then on the way home small talk of mutual interest---walk her to the door and thank her for a lovely evening and ask if she would enjoy doing it again soon.

Jackie - now if this "someone" happens to be THE PERSON you met in cyberspace - the first thing I'd wish for is to arrive in her "inbox" as promptly as my messages. Spontaneity can then take over . . . . there's no dirth of originality in ALL of us! So, I presume?

My last date was with a gal that one of my friends fixed me up with. Actually we had already met at work, then my friend fixed us up after both she and I had expressed interest in eachother.

After the fix up, I invited her over to my house and she accepted my invitaion ( get your minds out of the gutter, nothing happened in that way )

She got here at 7:00 PM and we talked , chatted and joked around until about 3:00 AM

Obviously we had a good connection with each other....right ?

We dated for about a month, and then she told me that she was going back to her ex-husband who had beaten her senseles and burned her arms with cigarettes( she had the scars to prove it )

So I guess that on my next first date I should choose a private location where I can burn my date's arms with cigarettes. It seems that most of you ladies are into that type of abuse.

I would want something that was simple, quiet and fun. A decent dinner, a ride in the park after a movie, or a show, or things like that I guess. I am not sure I remember what a date would be.

"Want to go out with me???"......well, if you want to fly out to Seattle we could surely find something chill to do...hehehe...i like casual hangin' for first dates as well as subsequent dates....if during the Summer, then we would grab some alder smoked Salmon,or halibut n' chips on Lake Uniion and watch the sailboats n' people at nearby Gasworks park also on Lk. Union....i would take you to see the huge sculpted Troll holding a VW bug under one of the bridges (gotta fit in some photo ops...right?!)....strolling thru the market which is so alive with street musicians,art,flowers and food food food would be fun ....we would catch a ferry to cross the Sound...perhaps at sunset.....then bop over to find dessert and bevvies at a chill Jazz venue......sound good?

anyone in WA state reading this and is single, send me your digits!...;>

For our first date, I took the woman I later married out for Italian food and the movie "1984". I figured if she can withstand garlic and the Thought Police, she's my kind of woman.
Maybe dinner or lunch out on a Saturday with some walking on the beach.

Jackie~In answer to your question..... YES, I want to go out with you! Let's set it up. Okay? :o)

Let's see.... a 1st date with someone I barely know... I'd like to do something fun with a lot of other people around... maybe a concert, ball game, a fair, etc.

Now the 2nd or 3rd date.... that would be much more interesting. Sounds like a good question for the next article Jackie. ;o)
I refrain from throwing around the word "perfect" when describing a date without meeting this hypothetical girl that I would be accompanying. The whole question of what date would be perfect revolves around that, the most important element of this entire hypothesis. Just sitting on a riverbank together could be even better than perfect if spent with the right girl. Are you available? I could remain fascinated with that little tongue for hours on end.

Coffee with desert - something with chocolate. My favorate is a chocolate fondue restaurant then a walk on the beach laughing about anything.

my dream first date would have to involve dancing and "kissing some" to get the FEEL if there is going to be enough attraction to even carry on! If I had to start over again, I am not wasting anytime or anybody else's. That sounds rude doesn't it/ Just tired of beating around the bush... if there's an attraction, go for it... if there's not be on your way and I'll be on mine. (thats IF the situation ever arose for me to be single again, which I'm hoping not btw)
