House Health Care Votes to Begin 9am Saturday
Federal Abortion Funding Remains "THE AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE FOR AMERICA ACT (great sounding name for the fraud being perpetrated on the American People).
Tell Your Representative to Vote NO!
The House Leadership announced last evening that the floor debate on the health care bill will begin at 9:00am this Saturday morning, November 7th with votes occurring as early as 9am. The 24-hour countdown to the vote begins right now!
Yesterday, while thousands of Americans rallied outside the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. to protest the pending vote on the liberal Congress' Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962), President Obama was on the Hill as well, lobbying (strong-arming) the moderate Democrats who have expressed some concerns and opposition to this bill. Today, President Obama will be back on the Hill making a final effort to strong-arm the red state Democrats into supporting his government takeover of health care.
Please be aware of the following points on abortion funding in H.R. 3962. The abortion concerns are the best chance to defeat the "rule" (a procedural vote to proceed to debate) on Saturday:
H.R. 3962 authorizes the "public option" to pay for all elective abortions. H.R. 3962 also creates a new national federal agency from which the "public option" will be administered. All federal agencies operate purely from federal funds because those are the only type of funds they can use, and the new Health Insurance Exchange will be no different. Once private dollars are transferred to the federal government or a federal agency in the form of a fine, a tax, or a paid premium, they are then no longer private funds - they become federal funds once the federal government assumes control of them.
The Ellsworth Amendment is a phony "pro-life" amendment. Sponsored by so-called pro-life Democrat Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-IN), this amendment, which is being discussed as a possible inclusion to the Democrats' grand Managers Amendment in an effort to appease some of the 40 pro-life Democrats. All the Ellsworth Amendment will do is require the Health Insurance Exchange to hire contractors which will then pay the abortionists. So, instead of the abortionist receiving a check directly from the U.S. government, they will receive it from a contractor who is funneled money through the U.S. government.
Many people often ask us why President Obama hasn't yet moved a major abortion bill through Congress-we say, the health care bill is his abortion bill!
TAKE ACTION!
Tell your Representative TODAY!!! to VOTE AGAINST this massive power-grab.

Republicans keep avoiding discussing the quality of health care available to Americans as compared to the quality of care offered in other countries. How they can do that is beyond me! (Read NY Times Kristof piece posted yesterday)
Just by changing the approach to health care in this country, preventative medicine being key, we will not only save lives, but also, if you are inclined to put the deficit before life, we will also save our treasury.
How do Republicans argue to save the lives of children by stopping abortions, yet so cavalierly put anti-big government arguments before American’s right to quality, affordable and most importantly accessible health care?
They continue to side with the insurance lobby. But I want to scream to them: Rest assured, the insurance companies are not at all interested in saving people’s lives…only their bottom lines. No amount of competition introduced through legislation will solve that problem.
If you'd done more investigation you would see the insurance carriers paid MORE money to promote Obamacare, than the other way around, setting themselves up to be "the" carriers.
Secondly, there are HUNDREDS of non-profit carrier around the county, which also will be eliminated.
Want changes, absolutely; govt. controlled healthcare - NEVER!
Non-profit carriers? No such thing. Not-for-profit is not non-profit. It's a tax loophole. And they are the worst offenders of the system.
Prior to introducing legislation, deals were made by the administration with the insurance and the pharma cos., which I think were disgusting. But to get legislation passed, Obama did what he felt he had to do. I think he went too far, personally.
I don't know about the insurance carriers paying MORE money to promote health care reform legislation, But if they did, it was to get something they could live with, versus the single-payer system they are so terrified of.
One more thing about gov't controlled health care...Medicaid is a Godsend for millions of children throughout the country who would never see a doctor or dentist without it ...the same for CHIP, thank you Hillary Clinton. And the less fortunate we as a people have the responsibility to help; that is the Judeo-Christian teaching, is it not?
We've got to stop arguing over inconsequentials l
Secondly, OUR tax money should NOT pay for abortions no more than they should pay for a face lift. We should never steal from the fruits of one's labors to pay for those who will not work. There are always exceptions and issues on both side of this argument.
We should be allowed to keep our own money to pay for our own healthcare and then this would not be an issue. And entitlement at the point of a gun as opposed to charity?
I'm not going to respond to your argument on abortion here. I would like you to read http://www.thecjpoliticalreport.com/the_egg_war.htm. It's in my book, A YEAR IN MY PAJAMAS WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA, The Politics of Strange Bedfellows, but I'm giving you a free look here. That's all I will say about that. Let me know what you think about what I wrote.
I know you don't mean to sound as cold and callous as you do concerning those less fortunate than others. Are there deadbeats in our society? You betcha. But there are too many who just aren't able to get out of the loop of poverty that they're in, and for them, we must have compassion. Over 17% of Americans are unemployed at the moment. Do you think they all got there because they're deadbeats?
The current plan will allow you to keep your own money to pay for your own health care, if that is your choice.
I have no idea what "entitlement at the point of a gun as opposed to charity" means.
I know, I do come across as callous and cold, I certainly am not. Just way too much time spent responding and defending against the the abusive, name calling trolls.
It is up to US to give a helping hand, not a hand-out. Those raised in poverty are never taught to expect anything different, thus the condition continues. I blame govt. funded schools too - but that's yet another issue.
What we want is jobs in the private sector, not govt. controlled nor govt. takeover of our healthfreedom.
I certainly did NOT take from the current plan we had a choice; that is not my understanding.
Public/govt tax money should never be used to fund abortions - period, whether you are pro-life or not. It, and govt. healthcare are both unconstitutional.
Thank you for a copy of your book.
I agree, a helping hand, not a hand-out. But I've spent time in the bowels of the U.S. and know more about poverty than I care to tell you. We don't offer our less fortunate constructive solutions to their situations. And, please, don't get me started on our school system.
I don't think it is either or. We have good jobs for people offered by the government, and we have/had a thriving private sector.
Rest-assured, the health care plan is not a complete government takeover. I promise. I am for a public option, a choice, a built-in strong competitor to the insurance cos. I also think the Republicans idea of opening insurance so that people can purchase out of their own state should be incorporated into the plan further increasing competition.
It's too bad that we can't reach a compromise. Such is the state of the little kids running our country today. They should all be put into a corner until they are willing to talk to each other. Uh-oh, I feel a column coming on. Thanks for the inspiration, Linda!
It has rewritten the IRS code and the Social Security code to make it so. It has added medical device wording into the tax code. It adds nutrition labeling to restaurant menus (chains of more than ten). It adds coverage for Puerto Rico, Samoa, Palau, The Mariana Islands, he Marshall Islands, the Virgin Islands. Insurers are required to obtain and report your tax information to the government. There are many more things that make this national healthcare. The "public option" is just for insurance and has nothing to do with care. The bill is national healthcare.
I have a 19 page summary on my blog and included page numbers from the bill. You can find it here.
Although this is hardly a perfect bill, and it includes items I would not want in the bill, it is going to do what should have been done a long time ago...rein in the insurance companies that have been playing havoc with human lives. (Read above.
I'm amused that you think theres something wrong with making coverage available to America's territories. One wonders how many diseases begin in those poor nations that wind up, in this global world, making their way to our mainland.
Back to the insurance companies, I have always wondered why they exist. What do they do? They are nothing but middle-men (+women) who add costs for shuffling paper and making ill-informed decisions on matter of public health. Had they reined in their own greed, we wouldn't have had to do it for them.
You argue against national health care, which this is not, but you don't say why you are opposed to it.
National health care has worked well in other countries (although nothing is perfect.) SEE: HEALTH SCARE!
What, do you think we should continue on the path we're on where the current system is adding to America's fiscal woes?
Whew! All that, and I haven't even had a full cup of coffee!
Say like capitial punishment. Linda A. obvious your compassion on the matter of life, I'm sure then that the use of torture must have gall you to no ends. However, your protest aganist such inhuman acts did not rise to the level of concern. You appearent lack of interest on such issues means that you are nothing but a hypocrite.
Abortion has been practice since man walk on the earth and be they outlaws are not, it will continue.
So what is the punishment would you give out for the mother of the aborted fetus, or the physian that engages in such an act. What would you do then if you were in power. If caught and btrought before you, time behind bars? Maybe death, a fine, how would you deem to stop abortions. Could you stop abortions in America? No you can't and you never will.
The sensible thing is to make sure the procedure is performed in a clinical enviroment and not in back alleys.
So where are you for the sake of the babies that are born into this world unwanted and abused. Are you willing to donate your time, your money for their care?
Will you step up for sake of the child born in this world. If not you, will you support government welfare and social services for prenatal or birth control. Will you support efforts for their shelter, clothing, education, and feeding with your taxes or leave them to fend for themselves, what will you do Linda A.?
And Richard, you are not a challenge - just the ebb and flow of the undereducated.
But that does not answer the underlining question, abortion can not be stopped, it is a fact of life. And you should not belittle yourself or others as much as you do for not going to college and getting a higher education. There is still time for you, so go out there and improve yourself. You might learn something new and really surprise yourself.
Furthermore, I really think it is very un-christian and not lady-like of you to belittle those who have less educatiion than you. It is better that you lean a hand, but then of course you are of the Dark Side, helping others to help themselves, well it is something you know nothing about, but try it any way, you might like it.
Are you sure you are not in politics as you speak out of both sides of your mouth?
The penalties for abortion are not mine to give, nor can I or will I stop it. Education in ALL matters is the key.
A hand up, not a hand out but if all you are getting is a hand out your are all for this Obamacare. They still don't make an anti-stupid vaccine, sorry.
