Will Obama Have Veto Courage?

Odds are pretty good that after some tortuous meetings and awful compromises by House and Senate bigwigs whatever health reform law is passed by Congress will not be close to what most thoughtful people want. Especially not what progressives and liberals wanted from a Democrat controlled Congress. Will President Obama act with integrity?

I hope he's smart enough to realize that most Americans don't want what he's been pushing and that it will make a difference. But I doubt it. He wants to control everything in our lives, so I'm sure he'll find a way to push through the worst piece of crap health care bill anyone has ever seen. And when it's time to say, "We told you so" we'll try to do so kindly.

It doesn't matter what passes, Republicans will pan it. It's a child's game of Yes, No, Yes, No, Yes, Yes, No. No matter what he passes, it will be denounced. I've never seen so many people cut off their own noses to spite their own faces.

Many people voted for Obama because we knew millions of Americans were without the health care they needed and that costs were beyond what most people could afford. American businesses cannot continue to foot the bill for health care and then compete with countries where the state pays for healthcare or where the state is so oppressive that it does not care if workers and dependents get sick and die.
This is a moral issue as well as a political issue.
The Democrats who are not backing Obama need to grow backbones and the Republicans need to grow consciences.
