An Open Letter to Phony Christians

Dear Phony christians,

This letter is to advise you that your actions and words are defaming real Christianity and you are to cease and desist at once or face my wrath.  You have demonstrated that you have no understanding of my son's teachings. What disturbs me the most is your obsession with the "Old" Testament and your ignorance of what my son tried to teach you.  I cannot fathom your infantile need to display your ignorance of genuine faith with false teachings, and public displays of stupidity and hatred for anything you don't accept. That is NOT why I sent my son down there!

You have totally misunderstood the concept of "to witness"! This does not mean "to preach"! It means to "show by example"! You have no understanding that faith is a verb and not a noun! You will be judged by your actions, NOT your ignorant "preaching" and need to feel somehow superior to others. You are not superior...you are irritating to people of REAL faith!

Your need to have a "National Day of Prayer" totally ignores my son's teaching that prayer should be done in private and not used as a public display. I am also not pleased that you do everything you can to ignore your nation's policy of separation of Church and State.  Your country was not founded on Judeo-Christian principles. It was founded on the concept of "Freedom of Religion"...which you don't seem to be able to grasp.  For those of you who mistakenly believe your country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, please by all means define those principles. However, be forewarned that when you do, you will be wrong.

Lastly, your current President IS a Christian in good standing with me, unlike your last president! Your constant assaults on him only anger me. He is one of only a few of you down there who understands that what you do to the least you, you do to me! And, I have to tell you, right now you are NOT honoring me in any way! If anything, you are embarrassing me!

There are numerous paths to understanding me, and yours is NOT one! In fact, what you are doing is pretty much guaranteeing a one way ticket to someplace else! Your simpleton understanding of my son's teachings embarrass me and make me very angry!  Don't make me come down there! You won't be very happy if I do!

This is so true...when I relate to the fundies that the bible I was taught said that Jesus relayed the OT was no longer "the word", christians were to pay attention to the New Testament...and then their eyes glaze over....

I knew God created, but I had no idea he Gathered. I guess if the pseudo-Christians cannot connect on a spiritual level, at least they can add him to their friend list.
Do you think Christians actually believe in God?

They only believe in control, power, and force. Until those who are actually followers and practitioners of that faith start drumming louder and drowning out the hateful, insecure bullies that have taken over Christianity, I'd say humankind is about over the fad since no one is openly defending it on a national level.

Here in the hills they say being a Christian means 'caring and sharing' - two things I see little of in the Uzi Christians and their leader, Mr. Bush.

I believe it has been also said that there are 3 things one must do to be a Christian:

Feed the hungry, care for the sick, provide for the poor.

When I see Mr. Obama working towards all three, I believe I am in good hands, regardless of his religion - which, frankly, is none of my business.

The faux christians are giving those trying to live as christians a bad name. There are no good christians, only those that try to be good christians because the realize NO ONE IS PERFECT!

I find it quite amusing that the Fake christian who inspired this letter would think it perfectly OK to offer a TOTALLY uninformed comment on it. How does it feel when you only let people who agree with you comment, you fraud!?

Thomas Jefferson also had all references to Christ's "divinity" removed from his personal Bible. Jefferson warned against "any faith that places the divinity of Jesus above the morality of Jesus"!

See "Treaty of Tripoli". This country was not founded as a Christian nation nor is it now one. The Christian right is not a religious entity but a political and lobbying interest...

Lisa, if God showed up in person, the vast majority of these people are the ones who would try to crucify him AGAIN. One person tried to lecture me on the teachings of Paul. Paul never met Jesus, Paul was convinced people should not bear children because "the end was coming soon", Paul was just fine with slavery, and it is the letters of Paul that have caused much of the human suffering over the past 1500 or so years. I'm not the least bit interested in what Paul/Saul had to say, and I HAD to study them in the original Koina Greek!

Then adds, (quietly) "I've got some really good friends who are Christian (note the Cap C--denoting "Real and True" Christians)...who walk the walk, dance the dance, celebrate their Word with both action and compassion."

These ARE some of the people who, without blowing their own horns, pitch in and "get the job done." I admire these people immensely--and they are so few and precious.

As for the ones to which you refer here in this (very excellent) post: Can we give them a test? and if they fail, ship them to Southern Texass, and then Sell Texass to Mexico?"

I was driving with my grandson in the truck during the campaign. He saw one of those Green "JESUS" yard signs. He asked two questions...
Does Jesus Live there? I said "No, Jesus wouldn't advertise like that." Then he asked, "Do we get to vote for him to be president, too?"
"No," said I, but "President Obama would be the closest thing running."

In the whole scheme of things, probably more harm than good, Don. I can't speak for other faiths but I do know that Catholic Ministries and Lutheran Ministries do a LOT to feed the hungry, clothe the poor, vaccinate children at risk around the world...etc. And, they do these things without checking to see if anyone has been "saved" first! That doesn't mean these faiths haven't done some despicable things in the past. All I am saying is they do an amazing job of "genuine outreach" as opposed to trying to save someone's soul who is starving to death. It is VERY easy to "pray" for people. It's another thing to put your ass on the line and actually HELP people in a tangible sense!

For National Prayer Day I would like to publicly cast a spell on those who judge others as if they are without sin and can cast the first stone.

In additiion, who are they to claim that people who are just living their lives are sinners.

May the children go to bed with both stories and a prayer.
May the mothers and fathers (or someone?) be there.
May the babies wake up and be hugged and be fed.
May there be clothes for the children laid across their bed(s)

May the women and the men who don't have some of their own
Reach out and feed, shelter those babes unknown...
May the heart and the minds of those folks who pray
Make a dent in the issues that surround them each day.

Aaaah...but they are NOT his followers, Rita! If they were they wouldn't act out the way they do. Jesus certainly NEVER asked anyone to worship him, but he DID command that people ACT like him! I kind of like the quote attributed to Mother Teresa, "We don't need more christians. We need more people to act Christ-like"!

As we approach this Clusterf**k for Jesus let us remember what is written in the book of Matthew:

"And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut the door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly."

Of course, I don't have much in common with them so we don't "get-together" very often. I'm sure they think I'm going to hell...and I KNOW they are ;-)
