Not everyone here will be able to attend the Inauguration on January 20th, 2009 in person. However, given that about one out of every 150 Americans is expected to come to Washington D.C. that day, I'm sending this message out to Gather readers - a group that tends to be a bit more involved and aware than the average American.
If you're coming to D.C. for the Inauguration, make your visit more than a spectator event. Make it count for something. Attend the pro-Constitution Inauguration demonstration.
It's a simple demonstration. Just come with a small sign (no sticks or big signs allowed at the Inauguration) with a pro-Constitution message on it. For example:
- Restore the Constitution
- I want my civil liberties back
- End Torture
- Close Guantanamo
- Stop Big Brother Spying
- Follow the Bill of Rights
- Separate Church and State
- Bring Back Habeas Corpus
- Uphold the Constitution
Bring that sign to stand along the route of the Inaugural Parade, so that when Barack Obama comes down the road in his limousine, he'll see that Americans are paying attention, and want him to take action to repair the damage to the Constitution done by George W. Bush. You never know - your small sign just might make it onto TV, or a webcast, or into a newspaper, to spread your message of support for the Constitution to a larger audience.
There is a pre-arranged spot for pro-Constitution demonstrators along the parade route, approved by the National Park Service. It's at the southwest corner of 9th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington D.C., right outside of the Department of Justice, which has been involved in many of the Bush Administration's unconstitutional activities. Be there by noontime on January 20th - expecting delays along the way. The demonstration will last as long as the parade lasts.
This is your chance to do more than just watch history. You can be a part of it.
Participate in the Inauguration Demonstration in support of the Constitution, and give Barack Obama a positive message for the future: The Constitution has been the core of American values for over 200 years. Let's restore the Constitution, to keep those values strong.

It was just on the local news how congress was given tickets to hand out to their workers and people from their states and they are selling them. This whole thing is nothing but a Hollywood scam and the money should be given to feed and house the poor of the nation.
Jack, yes there's a lot of Hollywood to this event, but you've gotta admit ~ it's an Oscar winner. (That's "WINNER" not "WEINER".) Lex, do you ever say anything positive?
