While I will lay claim to being politically independent, I am not a Left Wing "moon bat", as they are called or a Right Wing "chicken hawk". I do find it quite disturbing however, that the Democrat's in Congress are waffling like wet cardboard.
This same woman proclaimed, as did many other Democrats during the last election, that they intended to stop the war in Iraq. So far, they have accomplished nothing, except for playing fodder for the Republicans who wish to paint them as defeatists.
This proposal that was brought forth would have helped pay for this war, and would have eliminated the possibility that our children's children would be left stuck paying for this war. I do admit to having some conservative leanings, and on of them is on big spending. President Bush will have spent $750 billion on this ill-conceived war, by the end of the fiscal year of 2008. My question is, where is all this money coming from and who exactly is going to be left stuck paying for all this?
Why is it, that Nancy Pelosi, the very person who promised change, when she was elected in 2006, has turn out to be an total flip-flopper? Could it be that the President threatened her and she backed off her agenda? Could it be that special interest representatives came to her with brief cases filled with money? Could it be that she never intended to fulfill her promises of radical change in the first place and just wanted to break the marble ceiling just make a name for women everywhere?
I hope I am not being misunderstood here, I think that it is wonderful that a woman was elected to be speaker of the house. My question is, just what has this woman accomplished? The Iraq war is still being fought, with no end in sight. President Bush continues to receive funding. Instead of fighting Bush for funding, the congress is more worried about what some fat blowhard Republican talk show host said and what some far left organization published in the New York Times. Does anyone else see the problem here?
While I am an independent voter, I am man of Principles. I believe if you are going to be a Liberal Democrat, be the best-damned liberal you can be, stick to your principles, even to the point of committing political suicide. Likewise, if you are going to be a Conservative Republican, be the best-damned Conservative Republican you can be, until the point of political suicide.
The problem is we have people in congress who are too big of chickens to stick up for their principles. They call it Bi-Partisanship. I call it cowardice. Do the job you were elected to do, or resign your position and let someone with backbone do the job.
Nancy Pelosi if you were any kind of a real Democrat with a spine, you would have overwhelmingly approved this proposal and would have told the President, you either approve this war tax, or you don't get your supplemental money for the war. However, Because you are the spineless little coward that you are, you will more than likely blindly write the President another black check for the War in Iraq to continue, unchecked. This in my opinion is the biggest cowardly act that any politician could pull off.
The biggest mistake the far left made was to think that these Democrat Politicians were going to do what they expected. They pandered and the foolish people bought it. Just like Reagan and the Republicans did in the 1980's. It is truly a sad state of affairs.
