* Are you being evacuated? Add a note here to indicate if you're safe, or to connect with someone who may be able to help. Right now I know Samantha H. is probably taking alternate shelter, but we're hoping to hear from her.
* Can you offer a place to stay or volunteer resources? Share as much detail within your comfort zone and use Gather's direct messaging to make specific arrangements.
You can also call the volunteer information number for Fargo-Moorhead: 701-476-4000

It should just be farm land where it floods. Then it wouldn't be a terrible "disaster" but it would be the lovely rejuvenating "cycles of mother nature" !!!
I should make my own article about this so I can rant some more.
This is meant to be a community space for people affected by the present flooding. Folks are being evacuated for their safety and their lives could be deeply, irrevocably changed. This is a space for those seeking help or others offering it.
And I DO hope everybody involved with this current crises stays DRY. That water has to be SO COLD !!! I saw it on TV and its full of ICE !!! A person could quickly die just from getting wet !!!
I have unconfirmed reports that some Twin Cities area hotels are offering reduced rates to evacuees. Anyone?
I don't know about hotels, but maybe these people might:
>>Medica is providing assistance directly to North Dakota and western Minnesota residents impacted by the floods.
* Crisis phone line—A crisis phone line staffed by highly trained mental health professionals is available at no charge to all people (they do not have to be Medica members) needing support, information or referrals to other community resources.
o Medica members may call the Medica® Optum® Employee Assistance Program at 1-800-626-7944
o Others may call Medica® Optum® Crisis Line at 1-866-342-6892
Many stores and businesses are closed. Many roads are closed. They're asking people not to drive if possible. They are fairly confident that most places in town should be okay. There are national guard members patrolling the dikes to make sure they don't burst. The river is cresting today. Wish us luck!
