MPR's Midday booked meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley on this fine Friday. From the show description Looking forward to summer weather:
Summer may not officially start until the 21st, but now that it's June the summer frame of mind is starting to set in. Will the weather cooperate?
Wonder what we're gonna do if it doesn't? Sass aside, I too am switching to a summer mindset. June means those soft, warm temps and wide-open windows to me. What does it mean to you? What kinds of weather are you anticipating?

Alas, the forecast for tomorrow is back to rain.
But I may put the tomato plants outside in the ground anyway.
If our lawn didn't need rain I'd wish it to pass.
A neighbor and I just got a new lawn mower. I just ordered a manual "push" mower, too...looking forward to lots of exercise as the grass is growing like weeds.
Me, I LOVE summer weather. I'm in Mpls, and as much as I enjoy Duluth, it's too darn cold there most of the year. I want HEAT, I tell ya. I suffer too many months in snow and cold and gosh darn it all, I deserve hot, sunny days!
I have ever only had one mower, a push mower (or reel mower, as some call it). It's absolutely wonderful and gives a nice clean cut. But you can't let the grass get too tall or it's torture. And you must have it sharpened regularly. I love how quiet it is, and it's much safer than a gas mower.
Julia-
Summer means working in the garden, bonfire parties with my friends, walking the dog at Jay Cooke Park.
The winter clothes are put away for now, and the fun summer sundresses are out. And now I can wear sandals and high heels without breaking an ankle on the ice!
I love to watch my garden progress all summer! Of course I'll spend some time reading on the backyard deck, but this just might be the year that we finally splurge on a hammock made for two!
Ah, the summer months.......I hear the ships in and out of the Two Harbors ore docks, the cool breeze through the open windows and lots of evenings in our bug-less back yard (the lake breeze keeps them away-- and we are 5 blocks from the lake!). I slip out early in the morning for a walk with the dog while the kids sleep in and enjoy the lazy summer days.
Go! for! it! Diana! Those hammocks are nice. We own an oversized one made of quilted fabric and it is much more comfortable than the rope ones. I've dozed off in the shade while the dogs lay in the sun and watch the birds. Such a nice way to enjoy the fresh air.
M.K. Mueller, it has been a long time since I've seen McCarthy Beach State Park - nearly a decade. Has it changed much? Do you consider warmer waters south of there or maybe a more shallow, sandy beach?
Bugless in Minnesota, Kat, that's quite a trick. You're very lucky to have the wind keep the biters away. Isn't any breeze over 2mph will keep the pesky things quiet?
I don't know what to expect except more violent storms that seem to accompany global warming. I know what I'm hoping for, though - warm, pleasant gardening weather so I can get my horribly messy gardens back into shape!
