This weekend, I am looking to head to my home town. I posted on facebook to my friends that I was interested in starting a business, and wanted to take some portraits now to get my feet wet, so to speak, and be able to get some more experience while building a portfolio.
I am amazed at the response! I had 2 sessions already "booked" for Grand Rapids that I had asked to do, one for my brother & sister-in-law for their son, who will be 1 in October. The other for my friend Karen's family. Well, on top of that, 4 people asked for sessions in Grand Rapids. That's too many to do in 1 weekend, unless I do mid-day, which won't work good for lighting.
I'm splitting them up over 2 weekends, 3 each weekend. I'm excited, and nervous. On top of those 6, I have 3-4 planned for this area (Cecelia, send me a message about when might work good for your family!) already, as well!
Even after telling everyone they were free, I had several still asking prices, but I assured them it would be free, and the only cost they would have is getting the photos printed up.
I can't wait! I hope I can quickly get over the nerves part.
I'm also tentatively thinking about offering Christmas portraits in people's homes with their own setting, for a small fee.
Thanks everyone, for helping me here, and helping me figure out where to start!
