The hubby, Bailey and I walked up to Main Street to watch the parade. It was hot and it was crowded but I think a good time was had by all. This was the largest parade our city has ever had and was typical in semi-small town fashion. Participants in the parade included many of the area business, boy scouts, beauty queens, political groups, religious groups and a couple of wacko's that should not have been allowed to participate, IMHO. Watch for a few video posts from me later.
Anywho, here are just a few highlights of this mornings parade. I hope everyone is having a great 4th!

The Colors

Even Home Depot took part in the parade

Every parade needs a couple of cool cars!

Uncle Sam

Beauty Queens in nice vehicles!

Tea bags were tossed.

This banner was backed up with a Ron Paul banner

The main wierdo. Hey mister, Garth Brooks wants his shirt back that you stole!

The nicest "float" in the parade.

Cool old 5 window Chevy

Knights of Columbus

Cool old car. The sign is referring to the movement to increase the speed limit on Main Street.

Big trucks

Tractors

If you don't have a Rita's near you I feel sorry for ya!

Old tractors

A little music

One of the best "Abe Lincolns" I've ever seen!

Even the Blues Brothers dropped in. They had worst float in 2008 but I think they are fun. All parades need a little comic relief.

great pics!
I love this photo album Kat! It is so Americana and nostalgic. We always went to small town celebrartions too. I love it! You did such a good job.
Loved it! We didn't make it to Port Jefferson this morning for their parade. So thanks for taking us along on yours. BTW Rita's went out of business up the corner from us and now we have a Ralphs. There is still one about 1/2 hour from us, but I will stick with Ralphs up the corner, lol.
I am addicted to Rita's and by their mango ice by the quart. It makes a good frozen drink with a little vodka, lol.
buy not by...sheesh!
We're adicted to Kat....yes, I have bought by the quart too. Buy 2 quarts and get one free...LOL
Yep, that is the only way to get it. Rita's was passing out swag and we ended up with four coupons for free regular sized items. Sweet!
This was WONDERFUL. I especially loved the Jesus sign.
Oh how fun. I have taken the kids up to the Woodstock parade, but without having kids this year, we didn't do anything.
You'll definately have to watch the Christmas parade...Angela will be in that one with her dance company. Last Christmas our float won the best float trophy.
That is cool Janet! We always attend the Christmas parade.
Very nice photo essay, looks like a fun parade.
I love your photo essay, great photos!
Great pictures. "I love a parade."
Great parade shots. I would have rolled my eyes at the Jesus wacko. That's so typical of the south. It's hot here too, but there's a nice breeze coming off the ocean so that makes it barable.
Wonderful Photo Essay
A great photo essay of the parade and festivities ,Kat . Hard to pick out a favorite ,so many good ones !
Thanks for taking me on the tour - we went out to an art walk last night (lots of fun - will post later) but I'm feeling yucky today - so I am glad I got a tour without leaving the house.
Very fun to see! I'm with Phil - I can't pick a fav:)
looks like a small town big time parade! i love the pictures, you did a great job capturing the essence of the parade!
I agree, the small town parades are the best. They just do what they can with what they have. Some end up being spectacular, some just hmmm.
Looks like fun! I love the weirdo and the Blues Brothers--polar opposites!
Great parade Kat. Everything around me was cancelled today because of heavy rain. No fireworks tonight either. They rescheduled for tomorrow night.
we had a ritas but it went out of business - great pictures
I love 4th of July parades. Great photo essay, Kat.
Well done, Kat!
Sorry you got teabagged. ;>)
I love the small town parades. I had to sleep on the 4th because I worked the night of the 3rd and also the night of the 4th (working the night of the 5th, too)
BTW...I love Rita's Ices.

That's great Kat. It's been a long time since I've heard a Kazoo band. . . I was glad to see their photo. Loved the teabag aspect of it too. :)

Now THAT is what I call a parade!
I really like the Moses Trolley & of course the Blues brothers. Good job again.
Nice photo essay. My daughter loves Rita's and my husband tasted his first over the 4th and has become a fan. He'll be wanting one every time we make it to Baltimore now.
I like your photo essay.
Looks fun. Our local parade was much smaller, but still fun to watch.
