Last night, after deciding that RedGage wasn't worth the time it took to earn money there, I won one of the 2 daily $50 prizes. Talk about a shock- I had barely any points into the daily raffle, so I stand by the fact that sheer dumb luck got me the prize.
The $45 will be nice (they take $5 out the first time you order a gift card, and thereafter, they take a 5% fee off the amounts you request to be loaded to your card). I do still stand by the fact that the ONLY way you can earn anything decent there is by being featured, or winning a contest- neither of which are things anyone can count on doing.
You are allowed to win up to once per week, so 52 times through out the year. However, with at least several hundreds of members as of right now, I find it highly doubtful anyone would win on a weekly basis. I don't doubt there will occasionally be people who win more than once, but it's not a site where you can expect anything.
Here at Gather, you know you are earning points, and you know those points are going towards cashing out. For the most part, people who are active earn more than $.075 a day (which is roughly 4 points here at Gather). While you do have potential to earn more at RedGage, the base rate is way too low to be worthwhile.
Like I said, you can't count on being featured, or in winning a contest. Some people will likely be there for weeks or months without either happening.
The more active you are, the more likely you are to attain one of those, but again, it's not something you can count on happening. There isn't a guarantee that says "You will be featured at least 5 times a month!" or "Everyone will win at least once a month here!"
I think I will still post from time to time, just to see if I can get lucky, but I won't be spending hours a day on the site, because it isn't worth it.

congrats
Congratulations Heather! I hope you'll keep us updated on how the process of receiving your prize money goes. I am always hesitant with any new sites.
I will indeed- I'm not counting my chickens before they are hatched. I am concerned that the site is paying out too much at once- promising 2 $50 prizes a day, on top of featuring people at anywhere from $4-$18 for a feature. It seems like an awful lot to start out the door with. I know the site has been around for a bit, but I get the feeling that like Boomertowne, it wasn't a paying site to start off with.
Yes, Heather I'm like you. I don't count on the payments until they are in my hand or in my account:)
cool
Congratulations on your win! I'm really pleased for you.
I'm actually enjoying the site. I post here, but do a lot of viewing there. If you are going to view, I think you do better there as it does count towards points for the contest, whereas viewing doesn't get you much here. I go back and forth between the two sites all day. It works for me. If I get bored on one, I go to the other.
exactly what I am doing, since my views here do not count viewing gather members content over there helps gather members out here which also has to be counted into the equation
Exactly, because you get viewed at RedGage adding to your coin, and if you click a Gather link for someone, they get a view here also. Win/Win.
Congrats! Looks like a lot of people from gather are doing well on redgage.
Congrats on your win. I'm still testing it out right now, but I know a couple of other gather members have been winning the big $50 prize.
Congrats on your win
Congrats! What a win!
Thanks for this info on RedGage, I don't think I will join.
Congratulations on your win! So far I have not won, nor been featured over there.
excellent - found money, in a way.
I am sure you have to work for it.
I'll stick with gather.
I'd been on Yuwie for a while, but it got too complicated for dial up to manage.
Good for you, thanks for the info.
GREAT
woohoo! congratulations!
Congratulations! I am still very leery of that RedGage....I signed up for it but haven't done anything with it, as, to me, it doesn't sound all that promising........and, besides, you only get a Visa GC for rewards....no choices at all, not like Gather. Guess I'll just stick it out here........if one posts stuff, there are still the points, though!
Congrats! I just joined but haven't done anything there...it's been too busy around here with all the family stuff and regular work...can't even keep up with Gather. But I'm glad I'm signed up since real people win :)
The contest is only a limited time thing, it says that somewhere, so I would not even count on having the chance to win once every week. I have been a member for a little over one week now and I have not one, so I am definitely not looking at it that way.
As for the earnings, it is pretty much comparable to what you would earn per view on any other site. As with all things it takes time though especially since it is a new site and not getting picked up by google like Gather or another established site would.
Yeah, the contest ends on the 4th. I'm guessing they hold other contests, or plan to. I wouldn't be shocked if the monetary amount dropped- like 2 $25 wins, or something.
Congrats...WTG....
Congratulations!
WOO HOO!!! Congrats!
Wow, that's great! I've seen a couple other Gather members post that they have won that same prize!
I am so glad you won. Thanks for the tip. I am going to stick with Gather.
Congrats on your win. I seem to do much better there than I'm doing on Gather these days. Of course I don't post as much as some do, so I'll keep up with both I think.
congrats on your win
Congrats. I think the reason to stay ative at RedGage is to draw people to your Gather content. Page views here has become more difficult, and self-promotion efforts are wise. :)
congrats to your win
Nice Win!
Congratulations!!
Congrats!
Congrats! I'm there - not sure where it's going. I got featured today so that's the first real money I've seen. Not certain that it will be worth it in the long run, but if I should win the contest - it would go a long way toward haning in there.
It's a relatively new site just coming out of Beta so who knows - the jury is still out on this one, it may be worth it in the long run.
The drawback is that it is nothing like gather:( but it may help with views on gather.
