We went to a state park yesterday and took a hike. I was telling my husband that they are noted for their ticks. My husband being the calm person that he is, said not to worry about it just stay on the path. I did, he didn't and I got the friggin tick. When I saw it on my leg today I couldn't get it out, so my husband pulled it out with a tweezer. It was the smallest tick I had ever seen and thought at first it was just a spec of dirt ion my leg. I am so upset, I have had lymes disease before and never even seen the tick or had a rash. So now I am freaking out that I won't know if I have it until I have symptoms again.
Did you ever get bit by a tick. What did you do? Did you ever get sick from it?

never been bit by a tick so i am kinda useless
Growing up living in the middle of nowhere, I've had many, many, many tick bites over the years. I just plucked them off myself. They like to get between my fingers, between my toes and behind my knees.
I've gotten itchy from them plenty of times, but never gotten sick.
Thanks for that info Winona. I went on line to try and find out what kind of tick it was but there were so many and they are so small I couldn't figure it out.
eww. I've never gotten sick from one, but I had a friend years ago who did. Maybe you should see your doctor or at least talk to him/her
Oh %#@! I've had it lord knows how many times, and I don't blame you for freaking. Just track the days and if you start feeling sick see a doc. Crossing my fingers this tick isn't a carrier....
Oh wait - you got it yesterday? Usually has to stay on 48 hours, I think, to infect. Hope it's true!
I hope that is true. I have been watching for a rash. But, the last time I had lymes I didn't see a rash or a tick.
Oh yes...I've had ticks before...as has Pher. Nasty little buggers.
Sorry-I'm no help.
no tick bites but oh i had a chigger bite once that nearly drove me insane......
I've never even seen a tick much less get bitten by one. But then, I rarely go outside and especially not in the woods.
I am apparently tastey to the blood suckers, every time I go hiking I have one or more trying to eat me.
I just run screaming until someone catches me and gets it off me (usually my mother lol). True story. They make the logical part of my brain shut down and the other half says "Sure! Flailing like an idiot is the best course of action".
That is pretty much what happened to me today when I found it. My husband was outside and I was screaming for him to come in and get if off of me. I must have sounded like a lunatic.
never been bitten by a tick, but i hear the smallest ones are the worst. I'm sorry
I've had many ticks on me.I don't like them but most of them don't carry lyme disease.
I've been bitten by more ticks than I can count. No lyme yet, thankfully. I always worry though.
Those seed ticks are really small, like the size of a pin head. They're hard to spot.
Seed ticks? Never heard of that I will look them up on line.
I've pulled so many ticks off myself and kids ,it's not funny. But ,no sickness yet ! They are terrible down here this year.
They were terrible in TN. I had 6 bitten in on the first day up there!
I cached up around Senoia and Gay this past Friday and picked a few off ,but the dang briars cut up my arms sumpin' fierce ! How did Kat like the caching ,I see ya'll must have went to a Festival ,too.
I liked everything but the mosquitos Phil, lol. I was not prepared for those little buggers. I have some shots of the urban art that was at the cache I will post later today.
Burned it with a cigarette. Went back to work.
ugh yuck haven't yet ... looking for wood to knock on... and hoping I never will creepy crawlers ugh
We used to get them all the time as kids. I've never had any reaction to them though.
I've found several on me over the years but have never gotten sick from them.
I've had so many I couldn't even tell ya a number. Sounds like you had a seed tick on ya. Those suckers are hard to see. I have a slight reaction to them by getting a little red bump after it's been pulled, but nothing serious. Never got sick by one.
In the shelter belt (wind block) at the farm, we had trees we called "tick trees" because all we had to do was walk anywhre near them and we would end up with a tick. I sure hope that little bugger wasn't infected. I haven't had a tick for years and never want to have another!
I have never had one!
Never been bitten before.
In my lifetime, I've been bit hundreds of times. this year already 5. Of course i work on a farm. The itty bitty ones are the ones to look out for. I had to have a tick removed by a doctor because someone had tried to use tweezers to get it out and left half. this was in my head, ugh! no lyme disease .. yet. The itty bitty ones are the ones to look out for.
It was a little bitty one. I never saw one that small. We had to use a magnifying glass to see that it was a tick it was so small. I am going to look up seed ticks on the computer and see what they are.
I've no idea, I don't know a thing about ticks. Hope you are alright - you should know after 48 hrs - right?
Not sure Rose. About 10 years ago I was having swelling on my lip and face. The doctor ruled everything out and then sent me for a Western Block test for lymes. It came back positive. I never saw a tick on me. So now I am really nervous about getting it again.
I was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 1991. I never saw a tic but I did have the bull's eye rash. I'm sure I would flip out if I saw one on me.
We have dog ticks that carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever--we get ticks all the time but never have gotten the fever. I don't get freaked out anymore after 11 years in the country--but they are soooooo gross. Hope you don't get anything.
OUCH!
Make sure you have them all off...or they may multiply!

I hate using bug repellent spray but I do it because I'm allergic to everything. If I get a mosquito bite, it blows up to three or four inches big, all red and itchy. I would freak if a tick got on me, too. I hope you don't get sick with Lyme disease, how stressful!
You should have put the tick in a baggie and called the doc. He would probably prescribe antibiotics for you in case it was a deer tick. I don't think it is too late to call him and let him know that you found one.
I would have FREAKED! I HATE ticks!
Let's just say if I had a dollar for all the ticks I have found on me during the years I'd be rich. Luckily I've never been sick from them.
Thanks so much for posting to my group.
I had ticks sink their teeth in a few times when I was a kid (when I went to camp), but never got sick from it. Yuck, I hate them, though. :-(
My skin is crawling just at the thought of those nasty little things.
